5 destructive Heresies That Threatens your Salvation: The Dangers of False doctrines in Today’s Christianity
False doctrines or heresy has been a major concern in Christianity right from time immemorial. This much was referred to by the Apostle Peter in the Book of 2 Peter 2: 1-3 –
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of which the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not."
A Heresy means doctrinal departure from revealed truth, or erroneous views. I will sum up the meaning of a heresy as a lie injected into the word of truth. These heresies that am going to expose are based upon the order of God’s service and the Bible’s position to that effect. So, for you to have a heresy, you must have truth, because a heresy is departure from truth. All heresies are built upon some truth. Therefore to have a heresy, you must first have truth and then that heresy is built around that truth of God’s word and His order of service, in order to mislead God’s children; so they don’t find the way of salvation. A Heresy is invented by Satan to misconstrue the truth to cause mankind to lose the way, or mistake the way of truth and salvation. A heresy is a lie, and the father of all lies is the Devil – John 8: 43-44. This means that a heresy is a spirit that serves to counter the word of God through the propagation of lies, which is sometimes carried out overtly or in a way that makes it difficult to understand its misleading tendency.
Heresy is the embodiment of Satan’s nature – the very same spirit of error that waged war against order and truth, as represented by Michael and his angels in the great battle of heaven. Heresy never started from earth. It was a titanic battle that started in heaven and was brought down to the Earth – Rev.12: 3-17, and the author thereof, is Lucifer. Then the same spirit went forth and deceived the woman, Eve, in the Garden of Eden, and the deceived woman passed on the same action learnt from the Devil unto her husband, Adam. That same nature was thereafter found in Cain, and from there on, the human race has never been complete in peace and harmony: that old Serpent making good his intent, wrath and indignation towards the remnant of the woman’s seed, as forewarned by the Angel in Revelation 12: 12.
Way to the Alter
Why heresies still thrive among believers today
A lot of folks nowadays are of the view that for something to be of the Devil, it must be “black” or ugly,” and as such, it can easily be identified. This line of thought is an error in itself. Just as the saying goes, “the Devil is not black as he is been painted,” this much is very true, even in the light of God’s Word. For instance, in Ezekiel 22: 13-15, the Bible described Satan as a creature of flawless beauty, full of wisdom. It was as a result of this rare form he was able to deceive the woman in Eden. Again, the Bible went further to warn us concerning the subtle and camouflaging nature of Satan, who has transformed as an angel of light. Even his ministers are not left out; they are all transformed as ministers of the true gospel of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11: 13-15.
Therefore if you are expecting some ugly personality with horns and scorpion-like tail to rush at you and try to make you disbelieve, or you are expecting some minister to preach to you that there is no God, before you draw conclusion that he is false, then I can say that you are yet to understand how Satan work. False doctrines are like green snake under the green grass. They are mostly full of power and authority of a certain kind, and professed by well polished and highly intelligent ministers: people who possess strong and artistic charismatic qualities, to the extent that even an elect could be carried away by conviction. Like I said earlier, heresies thrive in the midst of profound demonstration of the free gifts of the Holy Spirit, and this is one of the major reasons why a lot of people cannot perceive and decode that they are actually living under the bondage of heresy and deception. This is why many of the followers of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy in Nigeria, could not see through the veil that he is a false minister of the gospel when he said that the Bible is not against the act of Masturbation, and as such, Masturbation is not a sin; simply because it wasn’t literally stated black and blue in the Holy book. But they have forgotten that any act or omission that runs contrary to the natural order of creation, conduct or behavior, as ordained by God’s creative genius, is a SIN.
God created man and the woman and sanctioned marriage as a legitimate ground for the man and the woman to cohabit, have sex, and multiply on the earth. Now, when the man or the woman is making love to his or her self independently, isn’t that wrong and a perversion of the natural order? This was what the Bible was talking about in James 4:17, “...To him that knows the right thing to do and he refuse to do it, to him it is a sin.” The right or good thing in this case is for the man to rightfully have sexual intercourse ONLY with his rightfully married partner, a member of the opposite sex. Making love to his self is the sin. But like I said, the people don’t know this, and even some of them that have doubt about this might just have decided to shove it off, simply because of the awesome signs and wonders they have seen associated with Him. Unto such, they believe that the Holy Spirit can’t be working in a man that is so wrong on many fronts. Sadly, they have forgotten that the gift and calling of God are without repentance. Romans 11:29
Also, heresy has continued to thrive due to the canal nature of some believers. When some people find it hard to cope with a certain or particular act, omission or deviation, in their lives, which is contrary to God’s word; they simply look for a preacher and a church that would tolerate their rebellious acts. These are the types that the Bible described as those who have heaped unto themselves teachers having itching ears; people who love to hear the sound of their own voice rather than what the Bible have said. Another factor that has contributed to the survival of modern heresy is the fact that the Bible has now taking the back seat in the lives of so many Christians today. People no longer read the Bible. They don’t study to show themselves approved. How many Christians today after closing from service take time to review what was taught, comparing scriptures with scriptures? How many take the time to ask questions relating to certain teachings, even when their minds tell them that all is not right? Sadly, the contrary is the case.
Similarly, negligence is another reason that has encouraged the evil spirit of heresy to thrive in modern Christianity. A lot of people have so much undermine the destructive nature of a heresy and the power behind it. It is because people don’t evaluate how powerful a heresy is, they treat it very casual and they become very offended when other people expose those heresies; and they blame them for criticizing. These are some of the many reasons why heresies have continued in the church till this day, and as it seem, it will continue unto the end of time.
In the Church
What Constitute a Heresy?
Heresy is any opinion or doctrine contrary to biblically revealed truth and to me, heresy is just a sophisticated word for 'hog food'". Now excuse me if I am sounding crude, but when you are dealing with heresy, you have to be plain. The Bible says that “the backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways…” Proverbs 14:14. Whenever people become backslidden in heart, they move away from the leading of the Holy Spirit and formulate their own ideas, interpretations and doctrines, contrary to the Word, which ideas and interpretations are not their own but it is the Devil giving them 'hog food' to eat. Now, what constitute a heresy? Anything that believes in a trinity is built upon a heresy. Anything that is not baptized in Jesus Christ name, believes in a heresy. Anything that believes in three Gods is a heretic. Anything that believes speaking in tongues is the actual evidence of the Holy Ghost is built upon heresies. Anything that believes in roll books in the church is built upon heresies. Anything that is built upon preacher’s licenses and Bible schools is built upon a heresy. Anything that separates brotherhood and ministers by education and qualifications is heresy. Anything that allows women to preach the gospel is heresy. Anything that builds an organization, Bible school and college to preach the gospel is heresy.
In other Scriptures, heresies are called by different titles. Doctrines of devils (1Tim:4:1.) Private interpretations (2Pet:1:20.) Another gospel-Gal 1:1-9. Spiritual darkness-John 3:9-20. Deeds and doctrines of the Nicolatians-Rev 2:6. They are all one and the same, pertaining to the same subject, and that is perverting the Word of God, perverting the truth and the Bible, perverting the message that God sends to mankind. So, heresies are based on truth but are doctrinal departure from truth. Peter the man with the keys to the kingdom of God, called a Heresy “damnable heresy.” Right there, we can see that the power of a heresy is destructive. It’s Damnable to the souls of mankind. Is it something to play with? Is it something to expose? Did the prophets expose them? Did the apostles expose them? Did Jesus expose heresies? Did Brother Paul expose heresies? Of course they did, because they knew the danger of a heresy. A heresy is a damnable thing. It damn’s the souls of mankind and takes them to hell and the lake of fire by changing God’s provided way of salvation.
Trampling on the Truth
Five Heresies that Threatens Your Faith in God
We have come to know that Heresies also thrive in the midst of abundance, success and wealth-areas the Devil exploits to cloud our sense of perception and judgmental correctness regarding the ministerial worship. There are huge religious ministries raising millions of dollars, building big empires and putting their preachers into lives of luxury and their patrons in the poor house. The Bible is quoted and attractive promises were made, but without mature commitment to obey. There are denominations all around us, approved and applauded by the public; they’ve been around for hundreds of years but their organization, their system and their doctrines shows no biblical authority. There are local churches we may “identify” with because the sign outside says, “church of Christ,” but some of those groups have departed from the New Testament pattern, slowly but surely. The sign on the outside may be familiar, but the worship and practice inside may be unfamiliar to devoted Christians! In the midst of all this, we need to hear from God’s undiluted word by reexamining this outrageous and devilish threat to our eternal security. Therefore, below are five common examples of the most destructive heresies that threaten the very foundation of our faith and heritage in God and His promised kingdom that is forth coming.
1. Ecumenism: The heresy of Ecumenical Pluralism.
This is one of the common and prevailing false doctrine working against the faith of modern Christians today. This concept entails that all men who worship a “god” are worshipping the ONE true God. By “ecumenical pluralism” I simply mean the popular concept that every religion is equal; everybody is Okay, regardless of their indifference to scriptures and in doctrines; we are all worshipping the same God. As attractive as it is, this is a heresy, and not the way or mind of God for his children. What has Hindu got in common with Christianity? What has light got to do with darkness? What has Ekcancker in common with Jesus? This Universalists doctrine claim that you can pray to a ‘god’ like Allah, and be praying to the Holy God, YHWH; the Alpha and Omega. This is a wicked doctrine of the devil that is taking root in today’s Christianity. Allah is not YHWH, neither is Mohammed Jesus. This is just another subtle and clever method devised by the serpent to infiltrate and basterdize the true faith and divine worship of God, by means of a united front, the ecumenical council/movement, spearheaded by the World Council of Churches-with the Roman Catholic Church in the lead.
Contrary to popular belief, Satan’s objective is NOT to achieve a One-World Religion, but rather, to unite the existing religious denominations into a common unity, cooperation and understanding. Just imagine a group like the freemasonry bringing all the different faiths of their members under the umbrella of their god called “The Great Architect, “ to relate with Christianity, when we all know that Lucifer is the God of the Masons. The core goal of the Satanist groups like Freemasonry is infiltration, deception and control through public influence. This is the exact goal and method of the ecumenical movement. To put it succinctly, it can be said that the best and most effective way to eliminate your enemy is to make him your friend (or at least, let him think that you are his friend.) This was what Al Pacino meant in the infamous movie, The Godfather, in 1974, when he said; “keep your friends close, but your enemies closer!” In essence, this is just what the ecumenical movement and its pluralism is all about.
Conclusion: Jesus made it clear that you are either with Him or against Him. Mathew 12:30. Any religion or group that doesn’t teach or reverence Jesus as the only way of salvation is a false religion. There is no common ground with righteousness and unrighteousness, and you must not be equally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14. Ecumenical pluralism is the policy that put peace above truth and that seeks unity with men, at the cost of unity with God. Jesus also said in these words: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew. 7:21. If some that calls Him Lord will not enter the kingdom, how much more them like the Muslims, the Hindus, the Masons, etc, that do not even recognize him? If your church is part of this heresy, confront them, and if they will not see reasons with you, come out from them now. Your salvation depends on it. 2 Corinthians 6:15-18.

2. The Heresy that Water Baptism Is Not Necessary for Salvation.
This is one of the newer doctrines currently plaguing some of the Pentecostal movements today, especially here in Nigeria. It is now a common thing to see a preacher in a certain church or in a crusade ground packed to the brim, stands up and say; ‘if you want to come to Jesus now, lift up your hands.” Then you see a lot of people lifting up their hands. The preacher then continues. He ask the people to repeat after him as he leads a prayer of repentance: “Lord, I come unto thee today as a sinner, I know that I have done wrong, and my sins are ever before me. Please Lord, forgive me my sins today, and come into my life. Make me a new creature, and write my name in the book of life. Thank you Jesus for saving me; Amen! The congregations then repeat this prayer line after the preacher, after which, the preacher would say: “congratulations! You are born again. You are now saved.”
But the question is; are such people actually saved? This current order of salvation is premised on the evolving notion that Baptism is not a necessary prerequisite for one to become save. I submit that this is a wicked heresy, and is gradually taking root in Christian circles. The proponent of this damnable heresy base their wrong idea on the belief that we are save by grace through faith in Christ Jesus (which is correct,) but they have forgotten that for you to be identified under this grace, you must abide by every commandment of the Lord Jesus, which is the faith we are talking about. In John 3:3, Jesus said unto Nicodemus: “verily, verily (stressing on the importance of this act) I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” The question Nicodemus asked Jesus regarding this statement, and the answer given, further clarified what it meant. In verse 5, Jesus answered and said: “verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man be BORN OF WATER and of the SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Christ is the very foundation of water baptism.
In every age, throughout history, God has always provided a way of escape for his people, whenever justice demands vengeance against mankind as a result of their sins. Right after the fall of man in Eden, God provided a means of escape for man to find succor when death demands right over him. The blood of animals was allowed by God to serve as a treasury bill of payment for man’s iniquities. In the days of Noah, the way of salvation was to “come into the ark,” and as many that entered in where not consume by the demands of justice-the flood. In the time of Lot, the way of escape was to “come out of the city”. And as many that came out there from, were not consume by the wrath of justice-the fire. But since the blood of animals cannot fully reconcile man back to God, there had to be another way of escape, and that is, God shedding His own blood on the cross. Ephesians 2:16. This is the grace the Bible was talking about. No man, by status or by deeds, by race or intelligence, was worthy of this act of mercy, which is why it’s a free gift – something you and I didn’t merit in anyway, but was given unto us on a platter of gold. However, there are laid down tenets that must be followed for this free gift to become active in your life. A pardon is never a pardon until whom it is granted receives it. This is what the proponent of this evil heresy doesn’t want to hear. To them, no condition should be attached to grace. This presupposes that you can swim in sin while living under grace. This is really diabolic and destructive to the soul of mankind.
Jesus died for you (grace at work) and when you baptize in His name, you are identifying with that death (grace); His burial and resurrection. This requirement was further reinforced by Jesus in Mark 16:15-18; “Go ye into all the world (including this present time) and preach the gospel to every creature (not just the Jews and Gentiles in the first church age.) He that believeth (you must first believe that Jesus is Lord, the messiah) and (the condition) is baptized (baptized by what? By water, as earlier stated in John 3:5) shall be saved (become fully secured in Christ;) but he that believeth not shall be damned (there is no escaping the looming wrath coming to this earth.) Therefore it wasn’t surprising to see the disciples, whom, after receiving the Holy Spirit-the Spirit of Truth, were guided to carry out all that Jesus commanded, and this much was reiterated by Peter in Acts 2:2-41, where the people, after hearing God’s word, were moved to repentance, believed in Christ and 3000 souls were baptized that very day. Of particular interest is what verse 39 said: “For the promise (those whole concept of grace and its requirements) is unto you (those Jews and Gentiles there-present,) and to your children (their generations yet unborn,) and to all that are afar off (whether in America, Africa, China, Iran, etc,) even as many as the Lord our God shall call ( you are called by the message of grace, and you shall only become save if you key into all that it required.) If this is so, why must this present they churches depart from an established principle, a major doctrine of the Apostles? The same apostolic doctrine they claim to follow?
Some have even said that since some people were converted in the Bible without mentioning baptism, it follows that water baptism is not necessary. This argument doesn’t hold water! Right from the time that Paul and the other Apostles were writing to the various churches under their admonitions, it is assumed that the people in such churches were already baptized in the Lord Jesus. This is assumption is true, in the sense that, the Apostles in their individual but consensus capacity, were writing to, and addressing a people of like-minded faith; people who were partakers in the same grace and faith of that heavenly gift that was once delivered unto them. Hebrews 6:4. This was very evident in Paul’s writing to the church at Corinth-1 Corinthians 1:12-16; “was Paul cruxified for you? Were ye baptized in the name of Paul?” We can see that Paul referred to the entire church as already been baptized. Therefore, all other scriptures regarding this fact are in order. Colossians 2:12: – buried with him in Baptism. Galatians 3:27: – baptized into Him. What about others like Mathew 28:19-20, Eph. 4:4-6, Acts 16:31-33, Romans 6:1-18 – confirming that all were baptized into his death? How else were you baptized into His death?
Conclusion: this heresy is of the devil; another means to deny you of heaven. Come out of such group now, and be baptize in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is the only hope of escape in this age.

3. The Heresy that Speaking in Tongues Is the Actual Evidence of the Holy Spirit.
This is another heresy of the devil making wave today among Christian groups and denominations of various kinds. This false doctrine is teaching that speaking in tongues is the initial and the actual evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost or the fullness of the Spirit upon a believer. This is plain wrong and false. There is never anywhere it was mentioned in the bible that you have to speak in tongues to show that you have the Holy Spirit. The tongues heresy is wrong, harmful, and in some way, blocks people; turning them away from the main truth of the fullness of the Spirit which God wants us all to have. I believe that the gifts of the Spirit are for today, that is, as much as they ever were and as much as God gives to each one severally as He will. He doesn't give all those gifts to everybody and they are not manifest in every area. Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit (1corithians 12:8-10,) and is not everyone that can speak in tongues. A man who has the gift of prophecy may not have the gift of tongues, and another with the gift of knowledge may not be endowed with prophecy. It is the Lord that determines who get what.
What happened in Acts 2:4 – “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance,” was in fulfillment of the promise made in Joel 2:28; “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.” This was further reiterated by the Lord Jesus in Mark 16:17 – “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;” and was finally fulfilled in Acts 2:1-47.
The essence of this move in the early church was to draw people’s attention to the Gospel, and it worked. When people started hearing their own languages being spoken by the unlearned disciples, they were convinced, and as a result, many turn to God, repented of their sins. This aside, it was never meant or held to be the initial evidence of the Holy Spirit.
You can speak in tongues and still go to hell. That’s right! The people whom Jesus said He will reject in Mathew 7:21-23, did more than speaking in tongues. They casted out devils in His name, and did all sorts of wonderful works, but at the end, He shall tell them, “get behind me, I never knew you!” Operating in the gifts of the Spirit does not mean you have the Holy Spirit indwelling you. The Initial and Actual evidence of the Holy Spirit in any man is the Total and Unconditional Agreement with every Written and Revealed Word of God – The unconditional Love of God. This is the evidence of the Holy Spirit. This is what Paul was inferring in 1 Corinthians 13:8 – “Charity never faileth: but whether [there be] prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether [there be] knowledge, it shall vanish away.”
The emphasis was always on charity, which, in this context, signifies Love. And the Love for God is love for all. This is the summary of the entire Bible: the Love of God as against any other thing.
You can’t say you speak in tongues, have the Holy Spirit, and yet unable to preach the Gospel and win a single soul. You can’t have the Holy Spirit because you speak in tongues, and still confess your sins to a priest who then said he has forgiven you, still bow down to images in the church, pray through dead saints and Mary, dressed immorally, get drunk, and willfully commit sins like fornication and adultery. Something is definitely wrong somewhere. Yes. Demas probably spoke in tongues, and partook of the same anointing that followed the early church, but that didn’t stop him from forsaken Paul, and went back into the world. It was because he never had the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit to begin with.
Again, in the Bible, we have recorded cases where people were filled with the Spirit, and in not a single case is tongues given as the evidence. For instance, John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother's womb. There was no mention of him talking in tongues. In Luke: 1, Elisabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells what she said and she did it in the language that Mary, who was with her, understood. It is not what is called talking in tongues, but she was filled with the Holy Ghost.
In the same chapter, Luke 1, verse 67, Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and the Bible tells us what he said.
The Bible tells us how Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit in Luke 3:21-23. When He was filled with the Holy Spirit, the Bible tells us what He said. This is the first time Jesus was filled with the Spirit, yet He didn't talk in tongues.
Why wouldn't you be satisfied to have what Jesus had when the Holy Spirit came on Him, and is endued with power to witness and speak? Why wouldn't you be satisfied to have what Jesus had instead of something else? There is nothing wrong with speaking in tongues if you are led by the Spirit. But trying to force or cajole people to practice tongues-speaking as evidence of the Holy Spirit, is a heresy, and a doctrine of the devil.
Also, In Acts, chapter 8, the apostles, Peter and John, came down to Samaria. Here were a group of converts and the apostles laid their hands upon them and prayed and they received the Holy Ghost. Nothing is said about them talking in tongues. Then why do you want to say it when the Bible doesn't?
Conclusion: the tongues business is a false doctrine that good people, but usually ignorant, take up because they are misled. Come out of it, and work on your salvation now with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12

4. No Hell: The Heresy of Annihilation.
When men struggle to accept the consequence of their deeds mirrored in the reality of God’s word, they tend to create a ‘getaway’ by neglecting some historic orthodox doctrines, aided by the emotional and intellectual reasoning of our times. In a heavily pluralistic society, emotional and intellectual reasoning denotes that it is culturally and politically incorrect to state that people who do not serve or recognize Jesus as Lord and Savior, will face everlasting torment; but that is exactly what the bible teaches.
As man continue to grope in the dark looking for that escape route, the tendency to jump to conclusions without divine revelation in God’s word, becomes more likely. But we are obliged to stay with the truth, with what Jesus had said, rather than what our emotions and intellectuals have to tell. It is becoming harder and harder for people to receive the hard-line stance of scriptures. But God cannot change His word to suit anybody or any organization.
Annihilation-ism is the doctrine that teaches that the unbeliever, after death, shall be completely destroyed. Annihilation states that, all sinners whose names are not found in the Lamb’s book of life, shall, after judgment, be consumed totally, both body, soul and spirit; and that there will never be any memory of them again. I declare that this doctrine and widely held belief, especially by members of the Jehovah Witness sect, is a heresy and thus, a doctrine of the devil. Yes! This doctrine intends to make God a liar. It is one of the damnable heresies that is been use to attack the historic orthodox doctrine of the eternal conscious suffering in the Lake of Fire, as recorded in the bible.
This wicked heresy presupposes that there is no Hell Fire and that God is too merciful and would be unjust to torment people in a fire. But that is exactly what the scriptures said. In Mark 9:43-48, the Lord Jesus talked about hell fire, and the emphasis is, verse 48: “where their worms dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” This refers to continuous torment.
In Rev. 21:8 – “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” This Lake of Fire is the same hell fire Jesus was talking about over in Mark 9 (the same Lake of Fire in Rev. 20:15,) and by the statement, “...all liars, Shall Have Their Part…” signifies a conscious and progressive torment.
Even death and hell will not escape this lake of fire. Revelation 20:14. And this will happen: Revelation 14:11 – “And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever (eternity:) and they have no rest day nor night (continuous torment,) who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Then Lucifer himself will also join the party, but this time, he won’t be tormenting anybody. It shall be every man and every being to his own pain and sorrow:
Revelation 20:10– “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.
But for those that did the will of God, that lived the way of God, shall not be moved.
Revelation 21:7 – “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Conclusion: it has been clearly proven that the bible teaches eternal punishment, as against the doctrine of annihilation, which is a heresy designed by Satan to encourage people to live in their sins, and not to take cognizance of its consequence. We are admonished to live clean, and by staying far from this heresy, we will be helping ourselves.

5. The Heresy that God is All-Merciful.
Now, this is perhaps the most dangerous of all the heresies listed here, or anywhere else. It is the most dangerous because; it can be easily misunderstood and misconstrued. First, lets get things straighten out so we don’t misunderstand ourselves. Without controversy, God is love and love is God. Therefore, God is complete in mercy and is always ready to forgive sins. The love of God is great and far than the tongue and pen can ever tell. It goes way beyond the highest star, and reaches deeper than the lowest of depths. The scrolls of the ancients cannot contain the whole of God’s love, even when stretched from sky to sky. The love of God for mankind is simply beyond any stretch of our imagination and human comprehension. The Psalmist could not understand it - Psalm 8:4-5, and Brother Paul couldn’t help reechoing it either; Hebrews 2:6-8. And when Jesus (verse 6) was also made a little lower than the angels, to die for the sins of mankind, the length at which God could go to reconcile man unto himself, was never in doubt.
However, saying that God is all-merciful entails that he is also unjust. Why? Because, though God is completely rich in mercy, He is also a God of Justice. That is, God abhors sin, and is too holy to behold it continually. But this doctrine (popular among Universalists) is exactly the opposite. This doctrine is of the view that no matter the condition you are in, no matter the gravity of your offences, the grace of God covers you, including the sins that you are yet to commit, even unto the end of your life; that God has already forgiven you. This therefore presupposes that formal repentance is not necessary; thereby making the word of God of none effect. I declare that this is a heresy and the most dangerous of them. Let me give the reasons below.
a. misconstruing the love of God and His grace:
When the bible talked about God’s love and His Grace for mankind, it was strictly in the sense that, man was not worthy to be saved in the first place. In fact, it repented God that he creating man, owing to his evil ways-Genesis 6:5-7; and there was none righteous upon the earth-Psalm 14:2-3. In spite of this reality, God still found a way to save man. It was God that found man, not man finding God; and by sending His only begotten Son to pay the penalty for man’s iniquity, he openly demonstrated this undying love for mankind.
Notwithstanding, the love that God have for us, can be liken to that which a good parent has for his ward. A good father, no matter the situation and condition of his child, is ready to be by his side and help at all times to make him a better person. Now listen close! The child is now of age, has knowledge of good and evil, and as a free moral agent, then decide to go his way, against the father’s wish, advice and corrections. He then ends up getting mixed up with some gang, and along the line, one thing led to another, and he carelessly or maliciously took a life, and the laws of the land was brought to bear. He is suddenly staring life behind bars, or even worse, a list on death roll. What then can the just father do? Certainly the good man will shed some tears for a very long time, he will hire the best lawyer in town for his son, he will do all that he can to save him. But since the evidence against him is overwhelming, justice finally takes place, and the rebellious child finds himself on death roll: surely he would feel the pain, but there is nothing else he can do, because as a just man, justice must be allowed to take its course. The son as a free moral agent has taken his own course.
This is exactly what the mercies and love of God towards us presupposes. He loved us unconditionally, whether we are black or white, Caucasian or Hispanic, crippled or well fitted, stubborn or humble-His mercies and care are there for us all. But it is only them that would recognize this fact, acknowledge this grace, repented, and whole heartedly work to keep to His demands; that would forever enjoy His enduring mercies. The mercies and Grace of God presupposes a duty that must be kept. This is why in 2 Chronicles 7:14, God said;
“If (conditional) my people, which are called by my name, shall(conditional) humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
The emphasis is that grace has been given without merit, but now that you have come to know of it, the choice is yours to receive it or not. You receive it by keeping to His words provided as that way of escape; but you received it not by yet continuing in your formal ways after knowing the provided way of escape.
b. Mercy will never compete with choice: The mercies of God are sure, but the choices that you make determine if you want them to speak for you. In Matthew 8:2-3, a leper saw mercy in Jesus being presented; he came close to Him and asked for it. He got what he was looking for, because he made a choice to ask. But the case was different on the cross at Calvary, with the two thieves each side of Him. They both saw mercy before them, but one chose to ridicule it, while the other pleaded for it. One got saved, but the other got damned. Both made their choices, and mercy reciprocated in like manner. There are more instances like these; but it is clear now that the choices you make also determine whether you shall be save or not. God will never save anyone who wishes not to be saved.
c. God’s own law demands justice, and His supremacy shows that He can also be choosy:
We have said that God is a spirit, and He is holy. Thus, his laws and statutes demands absolute compliance; failure consequently requires justice. For instance, in the time of Lot when destruction was coming to Sodom and Gomorrah, the grace then was to come out of the city. The law that accompanied this grace was “don’t ever look back.” This law, like every other command of God, was absolute. Lot and his children obeyed, and they got saved. But his wife (probably remembering the pot of tasty noodles she is leaving behind) looked back, thereby violating the law; and she became a pillar of salt. The same mercy that help her husband and children, couldn’t save her at the end because, she refuse to identify with it. And God’s law demand justice as well.
But God could also choose whom to save, and whom not to save. This was made clear in Exodus 33:19; “And He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before thee; and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee, and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.”
This statement denotes God’s supreme and unquestionable power to do, and there is none that can suggest unto Him. This was very evident in the Bible. There were so many others on the Earth, but he chose to have mercy only on Noah and his family in those days.
Jacob was a dubious character by nature, but God loves him ahead of Esau, even before they were born, God had already made a choice. “Esau I hate, Jacob I love.” He was clearly choosey.
Again, he chose to have mercy on one of the thieves only: he simply could have saved both. He will not always be merciful. That is why only one out of the two thieves on the cross was saved, for the law was that thou shall not steal, and justice demanded death for such act, and it prevailed over mercy in the life of the other.
Sarah lied when she denied that she didn’t laugh – Genesis 18:12-15; but nothing happened to her. But when Ananias and Saphira lied before the same God, they paid with their lives.
Conclusion: There are lots of other examples in the scriptures where justice walked in tandem with mercy in defining and understanding the concept of grace and God’s kindness. God’s mercies endureth forever only for them that will make all concerted effort to enter into this matchless grace. No wonder the bible said the righteous falleth seven times and riseth again. The effort you put in to identify yourself with the truth, after knowing it, would, entail if you are in grace or outside of grace. But unto them that chose to live in their formal ways after knowing the truth, misconstruing the grace of God as an avenue to live carelessly, would have themselves to blame in the end. For your sins shall find you out –Numbers 32:23; and justice shall rejoice over mercy in your life. There is always a time for everything. You have to be in grace, not under grace. Therefore, the doctrine that God is all-merciful, in the light of this exegesis, is false, and wicked heresy being touted by Satan to make people worship God in His anger.

Will God be forever merciful?

Why You Must Flee From Heresies Now.
Heresies are devices of the Devil to keep man away from God. When we operate in heresies, we think we are doing God a service, yet without His will. Heresies put us away from the will of God; and it makes us to become naked before the adversary-the Devil. “For there is a way that seemed right unto a man, but the end thereof is destruction” – Proverbs 14:12. A heresy gives us a second path, but that is not the right way to go. All these heresies are called the gates of hell. And Jesus said in Matthew.16 “Upon this rock shall I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Don’t ever allow these gates of hell to prevail over you. Come out of them now, and stand firm on God’s rock, which is the revelation of truth-the undiluted word! Heresies clog your spiritual alertness to the happenings around you, to what God has done, what he is doing now, and what he intends to do in the future. That is heresy for you. Heresy also can make you to be pompous, thinking that you know it all. This is pride, and is of the Devil. Heresy gives you a false sense of being eternally secured, while walking blindly into damnation. It makes you see things from a myopic perspective, instead from an angle of God’s word. It breeds segregation even among people of like-minded faith and doctrine, which in turn, leads to strife and jealousy. Heresy is totally destructive to the soul of mankind. You must flee from it.

How to overcome Heresies and Heretics
Yes! You can deal with heresies and those who carry them along. But bear in mind that some of this people are just victims of the Devil, people that actually meant no harm, but are being exploited for their lack of spiritual enlightenment. Therefore, you must have to be careful so as not to generate much strife. Here are ways you can handle heretical teachings and doctrines:
a. seek divine revelation of God’s word by persistent prayers and fasting. God may just show you something in a dream or a vision. He may just open your understanding in a certain way that you have never experience before. Proverbs 3:5-6.
b. be ready to review, reproof, and rebuke biblically, any message or teaching brought before you, either passively or actively; comparing scriptures with scriptures. 2 Timothy 4:2-4. Titus 2:15
c. stay right with what God have said. 2 Peter 1:20, 2 Timothy 3:13-17.
d. do more research and compare notes.
God bless you as you do this. Amen!
