Ghost Investigations , Unique Living Center , Shelby N.C.

The Unique Living Center located at 2904 Philadelphia Church Road has been closed for several years now. It was closed down by the state after several deaths of residents there and other abuse of residents by the staff there. In fact one woman who vanished just before the center closed is still missing. Vandals have all but destroyed the interior of the building but there is still something very spooky and unusual going on there.

As you can see in the photo from the Entertainment Room inside the Unique Living Center it is a hot bed of Paranormal Activity. There was no wind, dust, or insects inside the room to have created the orbs we saw in the room. Several times while we were there in the entertainment room orbs were seen to come from the ceiling and then they danced around the room and vanished back into the ceiling. There is also no electricity on in the building,

As we sat there in the entertainment room attempting to make contact with the spirits reported to be there we heard bangs and other noises coming from over head where no living people could be. It is reported quite often that people have heard the piano in the room play when no one is near it but the piano did not play while we were there but orbs did dance and play around the room and at one point in the room I felt something brush against me and the hairs on my arms and neck stood up as if I had been touched with electricity. I do know that it felt like a person when it touched me but no one was near me.

As you walk around the old shut down facility you encounter cold spots and you see shadows dart around. Over the last year I and my Paranormal Group have visited the Unique Living Center several times and each time something strange and unusual has happened. One of the first things that ever happened to us there was when the lights in the entire facility flashed off and on several times the first night we went into the closed down facility. The power lines had been been cut from the building so we are not sure at all how this happened. But it did indeed happen.

The next day while entering the facility from the front I saw a very old woman in a blue dress with her grey hair in a bun walk down the hall rapidly ahead of the small group I was with. She walked down the hall ahead of us and into a residential room. I and a friend knocked on the door and entered the room but no one was there. She was the most solid ghost that I have ever seen. From looking at her walking away I thought she was a real person. But there was no way out of the room. There was no way anyone could have come out of the room by us and there was no other way out of the room.

Vandals are slowly taking apart the old Unique Living Center but I wonder if any of them have noticed the high amount of paranormal activity going on in the buildings and grounds of the Unique Living Center.

At the front of the building someone places flowers on a regular basis under the big oak tree there. And it is under that big oak tree where an old man in coveralls is often spotted. He is very old and quite dirty and many people think when they first see him that he is a living breathing man. Who he is or who he could be no one seems to know. Often people will pull into the front parking lot and see the old man setting in a chair there. But if they approach him or try to talk to him he and his chair vanishes.

Many people have asked me do I believe that the old Unique Living Center is haunted. And I have to tell them that yes I do believe that the Unique Living Center is haunted and a hot bed of paranormal activity. In several of the old trailers on the property I have felt the presence of spirits and in one of the trailers I and some friends in my Paranormal Group heard an older mans voice beg for help and say " Old My God Please Help Me ". I myself have heard voices in several locations around the property and I have been brushed by ghosts that felt like solid human beings except nothing was there. So yes I do believe the location is haunted. I believe very much in the paranormal and ghosts and anywhere that you have people living and dying in horrible conditions you are going to have paranormal activity and ghosts occur.

In the photos on this page you can see orbs in several and we carefully checked the conditions in the area where these orbs were photographed. There was no wind, dust, or insects present in the area when these orbs were photographed. So yes I do believe that these orbs are some type of paranormal activity.

In some places in buildings located at the Unique Living Center I myself have recorded temperatures of 45 degrees in the middle of a hot summer night. There is no logical explanation for that. I have many times saw shadows dart about and on several occasions I saw what at first appeared to be solid people vanish completely.
