Give praise to the LORD: 1 Chronicles 16:8
“Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.” 1 Chronicles 16:8
Just got to work and started digging into the familiar, what seem to be, extremely urgent tasks.
Stopped for a second and realized I was in a pretty good mood, things kind of on the upswing. God is good, so why not take a minute from those urgent matters, which are really not, and thank Him.
So much to be thankful for. Listening to Bachman Turner Overdrive right now, remembering when we first heard it. What a great time to be alive in America. Gosh, I can thank God for that period in my life. For my brother who dragged me away from Star Trek reruns to play football and basketball. For beautiful upstate NY in the summer, when things were good. For a 17 year old body that could bike 10 miles to practice, spar 10 rounds, hit the bag for 5 more than ride 10 miles back home and eat a half gallon of ice cream. Which my great mom always had in the freezer.
Thank God for the life He has blessed me with, the great things I can remember. And, in doing so, despite what may be burdening me in the present day, make sure to provide those same memories for my kids. Simple things, like my oldest, who will always remember that he could not make it across a room without me grabbing him and hugging him. His dad always hugged him, he will never forget.
Thank God for taste of such good things, in eager anticipation of a day when it will be all good.
