God Don't Make Junk!
A WORKING FOUNDATION FOR THIS DISCUSSION
Considering the fact that this title discusses God, I guess it would be helpful if you believe in God before reading my theory. I guess that leaves you atheists out; you can all go do something else while I chat about theology for awhile….or….you can read it for the entertainment value.
My intention is not to convince anyone of the existence of God! That is a fool’s errand at best and daddy didn’t raise no fool. No, my goal is to point out some things about the belief in God that should be obvious, but evidently are not.
Shall we begin?
DESCRIBE GOD FOR ME PLEASE
What is your concept of God? How would you describe the God of your understanding? Would you say God is all-powerful? Would you say God is all-loving and all-knowing? Would you say that God is a perfect being incapable of making a mistake?
I’ve been around religion for quite a few years, and I have rubbed shoulders with self-professed believers for the same amount of time, so I have a fairly good idea of the various descriptions of God. Even Merriam-Webster Dictionary has a pretty good grasp on the God topic:
“the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshipped as creator and ruler of the universe.”
So there you have it, a perfect Being, and since God is considered perfect, we can rightfully assume that he does not make mistakes, correct? So if the God of your understanding and belief does not make mistakes, then we can take it a step further and say….
God don’t make junk!
THEREFORE….
If God don’t make junk, then why are there so many people on this planet who feel that they are junk? Why are there so many people who hate themselves, or who feel inferior, or who feel cheated because they do not have attributes that others have?
You see, I have a problem with inconsistency. Always have and always will! If someone states that they believe in a perfect Being, the Creator of the Universe, then they cannot possibly believe that the Perfect One created anyone who was less than a wondrous creation.
And yet they do!
And so I say to you once again,
God don’t make junk!
It is not your fault!
- Social Problems...Human Trafficking: Trouble In Portland, Oregon
The sale and slavery of human beings has become the second most profitable criminal activity in the world and it is quite possibly happening where you live.
TO THE ABUSED, I SAY TO YOU
God don’t make junk! For those of you who have suffered rape and abuse, and feel that it is somehow your fault, and further feel that there is something imperfect about you….God don’t make junk!
Horrible things happen to good people. There is no logic involved when talking about the randomness of life. Some luck out and never have to face horror; others seem to face ten times their share of horror, and for those it begins to seem as though they somehow deserve it. Listen carefully to me: no one deserves rape or abuse! We are not born under a bad moon and marked for life as deserving of rape or abuse. The acts perpetrated upon you by cruel people do not mean that you are less than others, and it does not mean that you deserved those cruel acts.
A loving God does not randomly select certain people as victims because they are inferior human beings, nor does a loving God create inferior human beings. We are told that we are created in God’s image and likeness, so how can we possibly be less than wonderful just the way we are?
TO THOSE SUFFERING FROM PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS, I SAY TO YOU
God don’t make junk! Yes, I’m talking to those who are bi-polar and I’m talking to the soldiers with PTSD. I’m talking to those kids with ADHD and I’m talking to anyone else with a syndrome or psychological condition.
Being afflicted does not make you less important than other people. Shame on anyone who believes that!
If God loves us all equally as his children, then who are we to love ourselves any less? You either believe in the goodness and wisdom of God or you don’t, and if you do then you have to believe that he considers you perfect the way you are. This is simple logic and yet so many do not see it, mainly because they have been beaten down by societal attitudes and reactions, and they have come to believe that the naysayers are correct. Well, they are not!
God don’t make junk!
TO THE OVERWEIGHT AND THOSE STRUGGLING WITH THEIR LOOKS, I SAY TO YOU
God don’t make junk! I don’t care if you weigh 400 pounds or you weigh 90 pounds but believe you look fat….God don’t make junk, and you are beautiful if you see yourself as God sees you.
I don’t care if you have warts or other imperfections. I don’t care if you have small breasts or protruding ears. If you believe you are beautiful, as your God believes, then you are beautiful.
I don’t care if you have one arm or you are missing fingers, and I certainly don’t care if you are heterosexual, homosexual, or transsexual….God don’t make junk!
Bad things happen to good people
- Social Problems: Homelessness in the United States
A look at a growing problem in the United States and elsewhere. The homeless are a part of the fabric of this nation and yet what to do about it?
TO THE HOMELESS AND THE POOR, I SAY TO YOU
God don’t make junk! There but for the grace of God go I, and I mean that with all sincerity. This writer is one drink away from being a wino on the streets. There are millions who are one paycheck from being homeless. Does that make you, the homeless or the drug addict, junk, but the rest of us not junk?
The longer you are homeless, or the longer you are an addict, the stinkin’ thinkin’ takes over more and more of your psyche, until the day comes when you feel inferior to the rest of normal society, and then you are one step away from believing you deserve to be homeless or an addict.
You are wrong! God don’t make junk!
Your cries are heard
HEAR MY MESSAGE!
I was born with a gift. I have not always seen it as a gift, but today I see empathy as a precious gift that I treasure. I figuratively bleed when others bleed, and I feel sorrow when others cry. Yes, it can be painful, but I cherish the ability to experience the feelings, good and bad, that my fellow humans feel.
So when I see a person who feels less than others, it bothers me greatly. I want to grab hold of them and look them in the eyes and tell them that they are a miracle, that they are unique, and that they are a beautiful manifestation of a loving God.
I want you all to hear that message, and internalize it, and begin to believe it. I know for a fact that some of you who are reading this have been abused, raped, spit on or demoralized. I know some of you feel as though you will never be normal, you will never be equal, and you will never be capable of rising above the quagmire in which you are encased.
Do not judge yourselves by the standards of others. Do not judge yourselves by societal benchmarks or by the words and opinions of those around you.
Instead, judge yourselves by the only four words that have any value…..
God don’t make junk!
Do not tell me you are not beautiful and do not tell me you are not worthy!
Instead, tell me the only four words that describe your beauty and worthiness….
God don’t make junk!
