God's Cellphone

Updated on December 1, 2009

Wouldn't it be nice if God had a cellphone? I for one, would place his number in my "Faves". Then every time I wanted to know why something had happened, or what decision I should make, the answer would be as easy as pushing a button.

How can we ever understand "God's Plan"? How can it be his plan for a small child to die? How can it be his plan for millions of people to get Swine Flu, or for a tornado to destroy a town?

Even though we often can't understand the "why", we have to remain strong in our faith, and think of prayer as our personal cell phone to God. A few verses that help me are:

Hebrews 11:3 " By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Philippians 4: 6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

A network where service is always available no matter where you may be.
A network where service is always available no matter where you may be.

Matthew 7: 7-8  "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you.  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

I know verses don't answer all our many questions, or solve our immediate problems.  The answer though, always comes back to faith.  We have to have faith that God is in control in all situations.  He knows the "why", "how", and "how come".  He answers our prayers, but not always in the way that we wanted.  I believe that some day when we meet God face to face, he will explain all of this to us.

So we do have a cell phone.  It does not have to have batteries, or to be recharged.  It never rings at the wrong time, or has to be silenced.  To access God's cell phone, all we have to do is PRAY.
