Guess Who
Just for fun
Can you guess who this Bible character is?
The night is cold and dark. A man lies on his mat on the ground, listening to the wind outside his tent. Sleep eludes him, but it isn’t the wind that is keeping him awake on this particular night. No, it is his brother. That little brat had gone and done it again. He made him look bad in front of the boss. “What difference did it make if I didn’t exactly follow the rules?” He thinks. “My work is just as good as his. It’s just like him to give his best just to show me up. I’m sure he thinks he’s better than me now. There was nothing wrong with what I did.” A sense of restlessness overtakes him and he goes outside. Sitting in front off his tent, his mind keeps churning. “Sure, I kept the best for myself, who wouldn’t. That doesn’t mean what I gave was trash. There is nothing I hate more than a goody two shoes. Of course, he got favor from the boss, and what did I get? Nothing at all, nothing except for shame and disapproval.” Pacing in front of his tent, the man’s anger grows and grows. Reason leaves him and all he can think about is how he will get even with his brother.
Then a voice in the dark speaks to him. “Why are you angry? If you do what is right, won't you be accepted?"
The man stops. He recognizes the warning, and he knows who is speaking. But it feels good to be angry. Revenge will be even better.
