How Is Your Garden?
Take care of your garden.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting" (Galatians 6:8)
Greetings. I wanted to start this off with Galatians 6:8. It speaks of the word sow, indicating that our life is a garden and we shall reap whatsoever we put in it. On one hand, it speaks of the flesh. If we sow to the flesh, we shall reap corruption. These are laws that God has put in the earth. The laws of sowing and reaping and they are designed to work each and every time. This is important to remember because God would be mocked and he is not going to be mocked, I can assure you that!
On the other hand, if we are sowing to the spirit. It will bring life everlasting. Let us look at some examples in order to help us better understand the law of sowing and reaping. Yes, we can apply it to the area of finances, but they are, also, applied in many ways.
Sowing to the flesh.
How do we sow to the flesh? By our habits, vices, yokes, etc. For example, a young teenage girl who just got saved, but she lets herself be swayed by the world and has sex. She comes back to the Lord and asks for forgiveness. Then, she turns around and continues to have sex. She keeps on asking for forgiveness and, yes, God in his mercy, will continue to forgive her. Brethren, we don't like to hear about people continuing to sin and asking for forgiveness. It even irritates me, but when I look at my life, there were things that I had a hard time having victory in my life. Knowing this has helped me have compassion on others.God, always, makes a way when we struggle against sin. We,all have weaknesses in our walk, but that is not an excuse to continue in sin. Let me be clear in that. Lets get back to the example of the young teenage girl. After a year or so of struggle, she, finally, gets it right. She leaves her friends and stop having sex and she is rejoicing in her victory, but all of a sudden, she starts vomiting and feeling rotten. Then, she finds out she is pregnant. Yes, God has forgiven her, but what she has sown has come back. She is, now, expecting a child. Sin has its consequences.
I, personally, do not have anything against single moms.Choosing to be a mother is hard enough. Mothers day is, certainly, a day to honor them! The Bible says that children are a blessing, but what happened in the case of that young teenage girl? She is not married and, probably, doesn't know who the father is. It is,especially, sad, especially if her parents are in ministry. Sowing to the flesh affects many people and the results are usually tragic.
Sowing to the Spirit!
Sowing to the spirit has some interesting insights. Lets start with the following verses- "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God"
(Romans 12:2) I don't mean to be critical of my fellow ministers, but unfortunately, we see too much of focusing on "Good things!" We hear of faith, health and wealth teachings! I, myself, truly believe in those things, but there needs to be a balance. Personally, it grieves me that there is not talk about holiness or sin. Some will say we are too mature to talk about sin,but brethren, sin is real and its out to get and destroy you.
We, all, need to learn how to renew our minds because that is where the battle lies. Sin starts with a thought. Everyone has thoughts-Good and bad. The problem lies with what thoughts are you entertaining. Our minds are like computers. Computers need new software from time to time and some software are outdated. We need to get rid of the old and put in the new. When we come to Christ, we need to come all the way and that includes renewing our minds.
A renewed mind will help us know the perfect will of God. A mind that is Christ-centered will guide us in making wise choices. With all the stress and anxieties of this age, it is important to know how to activate the mind of Christ in our lives. Living a life pleasing to God and seeking his word is a good place to start! Ask the Lord to show you a good church. A good church is necessary, because if you find one, it will make life easier. A good Pastor who can teach the word will help you understand what God expects from you.
The world is looking for answers. God's word is real. Learn how to sow God's word in your spirit. Doing so, will prepare you for life's toughest tests. It will turn a test into a testimony! God bless.
