Gary Eby, MSW is the author of two inspirational books: "The Eby Way" and "Reflections: A Journey to God".

Christmas Celebration

This time of the year is special to me for several reasons. First and foremost, I celebrate my wedding anniversary on December 23. Susan Eby and I have been together, if my calculations are correct (smiles), for 42 years! My wife accomplished her miraculous dream of becoming an ordained minister, and is the senior minister at Unity of Medford, Oregon after 35 years of struggle, endurance, and persistence.

The Christmas season is also important because we celebrate the birth and ministry of the Way Shower, and Master Teacher, Jesus. His ministry of Love has helped millions of people to have a better, healthier, more joyful life. His ministry lives on today.

In terms of his ministry, we know he demonstrated around 30 miracles with the help of Spirit. But, he was not the only person in the Bible to perform miracles. In the New Testament many of his disciples and apostles also manifested miracles. In the Old Testament, prophets and various biblical characters also did miracles according to their faith and personal connection to God. Could all of this mean, that we have the capacity to experience and even express miracles too?

Here's a remarkable statement that Jesus said. "In solemn truth I tell you, anyone believing in me shall do the same miracles I have done, and even greater ones..." (John 14:12) So...are you ready for a miracle today? Let's discuss it further.

Spiritual Solutions

In my humble opinion, I have experienced many miracles in my life and so has my wife Susan. What about you? Let's see if we can come up with a definition of what miracles are all about.

According to "A Course in Miracles", it points out that, "miracles occur naturally as expressions of love. The real miracle is the love that inspires them. In this sense everything that comes from love is a miracle." (pg 1). Joel Goldsmith, amazing healing practitioner and Christian mystic, shares more insights into the nature of miracles in his book, "The Art of Spiritual Healing". He suggested that miracles are all about expressing Truth: "The mind is a vehicle through which you become aware of Truth, and that Truth will govern every organ and function of the body. Truth will strengthen your muscles; Truth will give you the capacity to know anything that you have need of knowing." (pg 47)

Let me now try to pull these ideas together for you into a definition of miracles, which we hopefully can agree upon. For me, miracles are the natural and positive result of applying spiritual solutions to real life challenges. How does that sound? Now, you might ask, what are some of those spiritual ideas and principles that we can use to experience miracles in are own life? Well, I think there are many. Let's focus on just one spiritual practice today I call the Zone.

Reflection: A journey to God

What is the Zone?

Let's explore the Zone: Jesus spoke a lot about "The Kingdom of God is within you." Remember he said, "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." (1 John 4:7,8. New International Version).

"A Course in Miracles" also indicates the following: Spirit is in a state of grace forever. Your reality is only spirit. Therefore you are in a state of grace forever. (pg 7)

Joel S. Goldsmith went on to explain, "You can shut yourself off from the grace of God, but through prayer you can be reunited with your Source. (The Art of Spiritual Healing, pg 28)

For me, the Zone is all about Grace, Unconditional Love, a form of Positive Consciousness where we feel connected to Divine Source.

Now, one might ask, how do we enter this Kingdom of Love, or experience what the Way Shower called the Kingdom of God, which transcends the mind and lives in the heart? Here is what I think.

Entering the Zone

There are probably many ways to enter the Zone. For example being with Nature or listening to inspiring music can put us in a state of well being.

For me, to enter The Healing Zone, (some call it Magnificence--complete Love where miracles happen), I use prayer and meditation.

My prayer is an affirmative one: We are perfect expressions of Divine Source. There is no place for illness, stress, or negativity within our connection to Spirit. There is only Perfect Peace, Perfect Health, Perfect Love, Abundant Live.

In meditation I breathe deeply, to relax, and to use my imagination to see a beam of glorious Light flowing through my body, from my head, all the way down to my toes. In this state of Positive Consciousness all is well. And I listen to the Still, Small Voice that provides with steps and solutions to all personal challenges I might face.

That is what Zone means to me. That is how I live a better life today: I feel the Peace; I accept the Health; I let the Love shine! And Abundant Life manifests in my life. How does that sound? Blessings to you this Christmas and beyond.
