Hell Verses The Lake Of Fire

Gabriel is a dad of four, and a CLI Christian Leaders Institute student and plans to further his education in the pastoral ministry.

Various Beliefs

Some think hell is a place of party where they'll be able to see friends and family, but yet others think that it is not even a literal physical place and that it is just a symbolic message.

Than there is people out there believing Satan is in hell right now torturing everyone that joins him there after with the help of his demons.

However the question we must ask is quite simple in regards to these theories. Are these teachings true and hold any value what so ever or are they just handed down from generation to generation? If the latter is true then the first thing we need to do is get rid of these ideas and focus more on the full truth. Going completely off of what the Word of God and then believe what it says as our final authority. Trusting it as our total and complete facts. To not only get it in our heads, but to believe it without a shadow of a doubt with our whole hearts.

Lucifer's Fall To Where?

First thing we need to understand right off the bat is that in the very beginning God is the one who created everything that was made as we read in John 1:1-3. This includes the heavens, earth, everything in them both including us humans and the angels.

So with that said God is the one whom created Satan which originally he was named Lucifer. Reading Ezekiel 28:13-17 we see this is talking about Lucifer. How he was in the garden of Eden and that he was an anointed cherub. He even had access to the holy mountain of God!

However he was cast down because of his sin, but to where? Well to the ground on this earth in which we learn in Isaiah 14:12-15 and 1st Peter 5:8 confirms this as well. So where is Satan now? Walking the earth tempting people to sin, destroying lives and trying to steal joy from Christians!

Satans Final Not So Resting Place

Isaiah 14:12-15 tells us exactly where Lucifer's final resting place will be where he will never actually get to rest at all in. He eventually will be cast into the lake of fire.

You see he was beautiful and could play music, yet in that he developed pride. Trying to lift his self up above or equal to God wanting to be worshipped his self. Which is a place that none of us should even think about becoming. Because we just as he, is a created being made by God and He alone deserves to be worshipped!

Hell Was Created By God For Satan And The Demons That Followed Lucifer In His Sin

So what we have learned so far at this point is that hell is a literal physical place and Satan isn't there, but instead he is here. Now we will learn that it is not a place where anyone will party and for that matter alone no one will even enjoy, but instead they will be forever tortured in hell fire.

Before we get to that let's address and make clear that hell was actually created for the devil and angels that followed him on his side in sin. Therefore it had to be a certain size in order to fit them all. However since sin has to be punished it is now after man's fall in sin a place for everyone that rejects Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Which not everyone will truly believe in Him as the Christ and we can learn that in Matthew 25:41. Therefore hell has to actually expand each time that another soul enters in order to fit them because originally it was not made for people, but only the fallen angels.

Therefore since now it is made for all who reject Christ which includes Satan and the fallen demons, Satan is not going to be using a pitch fork on others there as he is not the ruler of it.

Hell Was With Paradise

Please read Luke 16:19-26 and just imagine on one side to the right you have Abraham's bosom which is paradise. Then on the other side on the left you have hell. Yet between these two places is a huge chasm or gulf that separated them apart where it is impossible for anything to cross it to get from one side to the other back and forth, but at the same time it is close enough in distance to be able to hear others on the opposite side.

In the Old Testament or the Old Covenant this is the way that it was in which God designed. Until Jesus Christ died on the cross. Because during that time He descended down as Ephesians 4:4-10 and Revelations 1:18 states and when He did some time after He took paradise with Him to heaven.

Another reason we can know paradise is in heaven now and not with hell any longer is in 2nd Corinthians 12:2-4 where the apostle Paul was actually taken there either in his body or out of his body which was in the third heaven. You see you have the first heaven which is the air you breath up to the sky and clouds all the way to the earth's atmosphere. Past that is the second heaven which is the moon, sun, planets and stars which is space. Then there is past that the third heaven which is where God is as well as paradise. The point however to all of this is that hell is now all alone.

What Is Hell Like?

When we go back to Luke 16:19-26 we can see that in hell there is crying and heat from the fire without any hope of relief. Meaning no breaks, no escape and constant torment! Does that sound like a place you can party with your friends at? Other things to consider that hell has is the list down below.

1: There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 9:41-48).

2: There will be no rest (Revelations 14:11).

3: There will be worms that does not die (Mark 9:43-48).

4: There will be complete darkness from the flames (Matthew 8:11-12).

Yet at the same time all of those desires that you had on earth you will still have! Imagine an alcoholic seeing booze right in front of them , but never able to touch it. Or a person that used drugs seeing the drug of choice in front if their eyes, but never able to grasp it. There will be absolutely no release!

However these things mentioned is not even the worst part out of everything considered. What will always be on their mind is the very fact that all they had to do was accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, but instead they chose to reject Him and spend eternity without God being separated from Him forever.

Hell Is A Temporary Holding Place Before The Lake Of Fire

Picture hell this way. It right now is a holding cell which is not even the final dwelling place of everyone it occupies. Think of a local or county jail which is only holding cells. Then you would go through the process of going to court to see the judge and then the judge sentences you to prison. Prison is the lake of fire after hell!

Hell will eventually be thrown into the lake of fire. So this tells us in Revelations 20:11-15 that hell and the lake of fire are two separate places until the end.

My pastor once gave me one of his old Bibles in which had marking after markings in it, but one thing caught my eye in which he wrote.

* Sin takes you further than you want to go.

* Sin keeps you longer than you want to stay.

* And sin cost more than you want to pay.

You do not want to wind up in hell and eventually cast into the lake of fire! Therefore if you are not saved I urge you to get saved. Turn from your sins and turn to Jesus Christ. Yet turn to Him before it is to late for you!

Warn Others In Evangelism Before It Is To Late For Them

If you are already saved you should be telling others about Jesus Christ our Lord. Not just inviting people to church inside the building! Care for others enough to not want them in hell. Love them by telling them the full truth.

Christianity is not a keep it to yourself religion. It is a public life style that should be practiced and lived all day every day. Jesus Christ died for us in public, so therefore share His gospel to the world.

How if you are saved did you come to know Christ? Did you just wake up one day and say, "Hey! Whoop there it is, Jesus is my Lord and Saviour." No! Someone else told you about Him, taught you and God used them to lead you to Him where you believed.

One other thing about witnessing. Sometimes your life style may be all that a person ever sees with you without any words. Therefore always acknowledge God in all of your ways as Proverbs 3:6 tells us.
