Why is money considered to be the root of all evil?
Loving Money
Many people who comment about 1Timothy 6 during casual conversation may say that money is the root of all evil when in fact they leave out an important part of this verse. The bible says that it is the love of money that is the root of all evil. People who love money will hoard it, steal it, commit illegal acts for it , and yes even kill for it. People who love it pursue it without caring about how they may be hurting or disappointing love ones. Paul warned about how they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many hurtful and foolish lust (1Timothy 6:9). The love of money does not have respect of persons, ethnic groups or cultures because it affects all of them. It does not discriminate between rich , middle class or poor because likewise it affects them all. Jesus declared in Luke12:15 that a mans life does not consist in the abundance of things he possesses, but the love of money can and does convince men or women that life does consist in what he or she owns. Yes, the love of money is... the root of all kinds of evil.
Money is neither good or bad but it is neutral and it adheres to and functions in relation to a persons character. A giving caring and considerate person will use money in an entirely different way than a selfish and uncaring person and it all boils down to character. Money cannot be evil within itself for many biblical reasons, but some of these reasons will be explained on video below.
