Homage to The Serenity Prayer
Looking Back
We had our season in the sun
The endless summer’s dreams
We did not know what we had done
Nothing is as it seems
Now many years have come and gone
Our time, it does not last
Of course it’s true, that when it’s done
We cannot undo the past
I say these words to you, so heed
Pay close attention
To your every deed
Honest and true, we must abide
No mistakes will we have to hide
For a moments folly;
Or a life of pride.
Endeavors great endeavors small
We need not count the ways
Gather them up, one and all
For dark and dreary days
When life seems unfair, cold and hard
It’s time to pull your ‘memory card’
From within your sleeve, hidden from all
Wonderful memories will help to recall
Those Summer Days of Youth and Sun
And once this history has begun
To free your spirit, heart and soul
Contentment is a worthy goal
To find solace, comfort, ease and care
We’re sure to meet company there
Others who have come to the same conclusion
Will tell you there is no confusion
Life is short and sweet and so
There is only one true way to go
A place we’ll find the ‘why and where’
In the wise words of
The Serenity Prayer.
