How To Practice The Presence of God

Updated on November 24, 2017

#1 DEVOTIONAL TIME

Having a daily devotional time is an awesome way to practice the presence of God. Being able to set time aside that is devoted for you and the Lord is quality time that you spend in God's presence.

#2 MEDITATION

Most christians do not understand that meditation is a great way to practice God's presence. Often times when people hear the word meditation the first thing they think of is yoga or some form of Transcendental meditation, or they feel meditation is not of God. However, meditation is of God because scripture states in Joshua 1:8 "This book of the law shall not depart out of they mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night...." . Meditating on God's Word is practicing God's presence. Often times christians believe they do not feel a tangible annointing they think they are not in the presence of God. Having the Word of God on your mind is meditation. Meditating on God's Word is a great way to practice being in God's presence.

FASTING

#3 Fasting, ok, seriously no one wakes up and say I am going to fast today. This is one of the problems today the church does not fast as they should. They use to when I was first saved I was taught to fast every Tuesday and Thursday. When Tuesday and Thursday came everyone knew these were days that the church was to fast. Fasting brings the presence of God into our life in a stronger way than any other way. Fasting is not just not eating it is not eating plus being prayerful and being in God's presence the whole while fasting. Fasting brings great results. A lot of times Christians won't fast until their is something serious trouble going on in thier life. Fasting brings us closer to God, and it also brings about deliverance. If you are trying to break a habit fasting is a good way to break a habit that is not of God.

#7 MAKING MELODY IN YOUR HEART

Making melody in your heart to the Lord is such a oh so sweet way of practicing God's presence in your life. Singing songs, and making melody to the Lord is an awesome way to keep oneself fresh, anointing with fresh oil from the Lord! It is such a blessing to really engage with the Lord and make melody in your heart to Him. Once you begin making melody to Him it will usher you into a spirit of worship, and it brings in a sweet spirit within your home. Not only will you be blessed, but it certainly will bless others when they come into your home.

#4 COMMITTMENT

Being committed is a big one. Being committed to bible study, and prayer is another way to practice the presence of God. Not just bible study at church, but bible study at home. Whatever happen to committed bible study at home?

#5 PRAYER GROUPS Prayer groups are powerful and I am here to tell you having a prayer group is one of the most powerful ways to practice the presence of God!! If you do belong to a prayer group or your church does not have prayer groups it is an awesome ideal to start one. When someone hear "group" they think of alot of people. A prayer group can consist of 3 or 4 people. What usually happens when word of mouth gets around that you have started a prayer group you better believe more people will be asking to come, and will start showing up. Before you know it your group will have grown to 10 people or more. This is a good size group due to circumstances do come up, and everyone will not always be able to make it on the day and time that is set aside to have prayer.

#6 PERSONAL PRAYER TIME

Your personal prayer time can Not be replaced with time in church, or bible study at church. This is not personal prayer time. Christians so often have fallen away from having their own personal prayer time with the Lord on a daily basis. One of my very best friends taught me if you have little prayer you will have little power, but if you have much prayer you will have much power. This is so true when you use your personal prayer time to practice the presence of God it is so easy to just step into the Holy Spirit, and to connect with God. When you develop your personal prayer time, the spirit just comes upon you all throughout the day, and your relationship with Jesus Christ will get sweeter, and sweeter each and everyday.
