How to detect liars
Why do people lie? What causes them to lie? What is meant by a lie? And finally what harm can lies do? These are the questions covered in this article. The author is no expert on lies (although white lies have occasionally passed my lips) however, I am an expert recipient of lies and as you continue to read you will realise that you also are a recipient of lies that you never even knew about!
Now that I have managed to grab your full attention, read on, you will find some interesting facts about liars which will equip you for future events and hopefully help you to make decisions about your future!
What is a lie? Well we are all aware that there are different levels of lies, I mentioned previously about white lies. I am sure you will agree that sometimes you are placed in a position whereby if you told the truth, someone would be deeply hurt or offended . For example, If you told your rather 'obese' best friend that she was grossly over weight at the time she was trying on her wedding dress I am sure she would be devastated, so rather than offend her you would encourage her and tell her she looks beautiful! That is an acceptable white lie. People and their self worth should be an important consideration when disclosing such personal information. There are also ways and the right time to disclose to your friend that she may wish to join you at the gym (but preferably before she tries on her wedding dress!)
The problem occurs when a person tells a lie to cover something up that is more than a 'white lie', If you knew that your obese friend's fiancé was actually being unfaithful to her, you would not be a very good friend if you allowed her to marry this man knowing he is a deceiver! The lie is when you do not inform your friend of this deceit, you know something is going on behind her back and you keep this information to yourself.- you then live a lie! The lie also becomes even blacker when your obese friend says 'Oh! I am so lucky to be marrying such a wonderful, faithful man! and you reply by saying " Yes, you are!"
So now that we know the difference between a white lie and black lie, we can see there is a substantial difference in its effect and the reasons behind each type. However, black lies can and do go much deeper than this. Pathological or compulsive liars for example, habitually tell lies, often it is planned but sometimes automatic or out of habit and they may not even be aware they are doing it. It may be due to past childhood problems where if they had not lied they would probably have been cruelly abused. However, other types of liars tell lies because they long for power over others and their goal is to manipulate others, into performing certain acts - willingly.
Compulsive liars are quite subtle and skillful at lying. They do not feel guilt or remorseful while lying or even after they have lied.To them it is normal practice. Even when confronted with the lie they will deny it and have a convincing argument at the ready to persuade you that you are imagining things, have taken things out of proportion or being totally irrational. Often they will say their behaviour is normal and they will give examples of others who behaved the same way. Compulsive and Pathological liars are extremely professional at lying and it feeds their appetite for power and manipulation over other people. Obviously there are people who for various reasons tell lies to a lesser degree, and not necessarily to manipulate or control.
Why is it wrong to lie? What harmful effects does it have on the person being lied to. How does it affect the person telling the lies?
Morally, lying is deception, it is the opposite to being truthful and honest. Lying is one of the Ten Commandments, Remember those? "Thou shalt not's? Thou shalt not lie". This means that G-d does not approve of lying. It is obviously on His agenda of wicked deeds. Why is that? I always used to think 'well there's a lot worse sins than telling lies such as murder, rape, stealing, abuse, why the big deal? But now that I have matured and understand G-d better it all makes logical sense.
Sin is sin, regardless of the severity of it, One sin will often lead to another. Christ commands that people should not commit adultery, not only that, they also should not look at a person of the opposite sex lustfully - that is also sin. Looking at a person lustfully, naturally progresses into adultery. The 'looking' is the second stage, the first stage is the inclination of the heart and mind to (or thought) look at a person of the opposite sex lustfully. This then may often lead to the physical act of adultery. The key point here though is that the persons heart and mind was already corrupt and willing to commit these acts. The point of this example is to demonstrate that each individual person has their own Achilles Heel (their own weak spot) and it is this weak spot that can let you down by opening a doorway to further sinful behaviour. The same is true for the person who has a heart to deceive and lie. In relationships such as marriage it can eventually destroy it.
How do you detect when a person is lying? It gradually becomes obvious when suddenly things do not add up. They will say one thing one day and the complete opposite the next, for example they may say they hate to have a bath,preferring to use a shower and then a few days later they will spend an hour soaking themselves in the bath. However, this is a very simple scenario at personal relationship level. There are more serious liars in the world and they are affecting us globally and within our local communities.
Now we come onto the serious staff and as my readers have already discovered, I do not mince my words! Have you heard of the name belial ? Or another name beliar? Or have you heard of the term 'Father of Lies?'
These are all names that refer to the preacher of lies. He is the one who opposes G-d in everything, and he is the lawless one that people are talking about today. People recognise he is the next prophesy of Revelation and Daniel (found in the bible) to be fulfilled. He is said to soon reveal his identity (however, this is not necessarily true as the Temple in Jerusalem is to be built first, but that's another story), This man who imitates G-d by sending the antichrist and false prophet into the world to deceive the people. Their role is to manipulate people into accepting him as their god. The world are ready to receive this god because they have gradually been manipulated into accepting his lies. He is the father of lies, he is the expert. He was the master of hitler, stalin and saddam hussan, he was also the master and teacher of charles darwin, pharaoh and emperor constantine.
He was and is the instigator who managed to turn the world upside down. How? By changing peoples values, by instigating situations, subtly, to persuade people that G-d does not exist, or that G-d is evil or G-d doesn't care.
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter."Isaiah 5:20. In other words, woe to those who deliberately twist the truth! Those who say that G-d is evil will receive G-d's anger and judgement!
It is this great lie 'that G-d is evil', that has misled people and manipulated them into accepting humanism as the new religion! It is this great lie 'that G-d is evil' that has caused confusion in the world. Children are being taught that all religions are equal, that Christianity and Judaism is the enemy of the world because they support this evil G-d. The favourite argument is 'How can a loving G-d allow such suffering?'
The question should be , How can the devil subtly manipulate people's minds to believe that the creator of all the beautiful things we see around us, the newborn child you hold in your hands, the colourful flowers you have in the vase and the wonderful song birds singing in the trees, how can he persuade people to believe such a G-d is evil! The answer to this question is that satan has for centuries, used liars and other law breakers to do his work for him. He has found people with Achilles heels and he has taken hold of them. The doors opened to those people's lives because of their willingness to break G-d's laws - they were perfect willing candidates to do satan's bidding. Leaders like Hitler and Saddam; their Achilles heel was a strong desire for power and a hatred for certain people. In particular they had a hatred for Israel and the Jews just like satan.
I read recently on the net some one's article on emperor constantine, the author said constantine was a wonderful christian who introduced the new Christianity, he was a good man and the fact that he murdered his family was irrelevant. This author is so deluded and sees life through rose coloured glasses! Constantine did not repent of his crimes and was so jealous of the Jewish Christians (the true Christians), that he created a pagan Christianity that still exists today as the mainstream christian religion. This was a major part of the beginning of the apostasy age. Believers were manipulated and deluded into following this false religion which then directed them away from the true path, the true christian faith seen in the disciples.
Apostasy? What am I talking about? I am talking about the turning away from the true G-d of the universe, and His son, the true Messiah, and the true Holy Spirit. I am talking about the Great Lie that has deceived many into taking the wrong road - the wide road that leads to destruction!.
What is apostasy? It is the abandonment of a belief or religious faith. An apostate is a person who renounces former belief.
Do you remember way back in the days when children went to school and the first thing they did each morning was to have an assembly? That assembly was a time of focusing on G-d, a time for children to pray and sing together and learn the moral way to live. Do you remember the years when every one was aware of the Ten Commandments and did their best to follow them? Do you remember the moral codes and the days when neighbours doors where unlocked so that they could 'pop into' each others home for a coffee and chat? Do you remember the times when if a teenage was heard swearing by a passer- by, they would get a 'clout round the ear' and that teenager would never swear again for fear of a slap from another passer by? Do you remember when justice was true justice, when the victim was recompensed and the perpetrator was imprisoned? Do you remember when the churches were full to the brim and the bible was in almost every household and G-d was a natural word on every tongue? I think you understand where I am leading with this!
The world has been turned up side down where good is now seen as evil and evil is now seen as good! Witches are accepted in society whereas Christian leaders are frowned upon.
Marriage is seen as foolish and sexual promiscuity is the norm. Dancing has become more like the dance to the golden calf, the sort of pagan dancing with sexual movements to entice and lure people into sexual promiscuity, This type of dance is often used in satanic rites and has become the norm for young people to dance like this, in a provocative lustful manner, particularly young female dancers.
The father of lies has many names some of which are; the adversary, satan, the beast, the devil, the tempter and preacher of lies. He is also called 'saw' which means vanity. I am going to discuss belial or beliar! Belial is mentioned in the bible and various other writings, i.e. Syballine Writings, Damascus Document and the War Scroll.
Belial sets 3 traps to capture people in his net so that he can manipulate them to do his bidding.
- Fornication - bigamy, sexual permissiveness.
- Desire for wealth (or today- trapping people into debt)
- Pollution of sanctuary (the sanctuary normally refers to the temple, Christians are seen as G-d's temple, so they are led into acts that pollute them through perversion i.e Incest, blasphemy, sexual perversion, pornography. This was a favourite tactic hitler used. He forced Jews to eat pork knowing this was against G-d's law. During the end times he will use the same tactics, forcing believers to deny Christ or face death!
There are also 3 ways belial tries to tempt G-d's people in the desert (meaning during their trials and sufferings - when they are vulnerable -that is when he attacks)
- To doubt G-d's promises, to accept worldly ways.
- To test G-d, put Him to the test. this is a form of rebellion.
- To worship satan instead of G-d (take the easy route).
If you have access to the scrolls you will find belial leader of the spiritual forces of wickedness in 1QM13 Angel of Indemnity, or 1QM17 Prince of the kingdom of wickedness. He is also referenced as the spirit of injustice and angel of darkness.
Preacher of lies can be found in the bible see Corinthians 6: 15, Micah 2:6, 11.
The Sybylline writings were written by a prophetess, she wrote " Very end times. there are many deceivers. Belial will come, do many signs, there will be great confusion between holy chosen and faithful, then at the time of invasion of army on Israel. A dark mist will cover the world. A blazing fire from heaven, consuming everywhere. The sun and moon will crash together into desolate form. Brimstone, fire and ashes cover all. Before this destruction, comes belial, he will perform many signs, confusing the holy people. "
Damascus Document: "Israel was stubborn when arose the man of scorn, who preached to Israel lying words and led them astray. They turned away from the path of righteousness . They chose illusions, justified the wicked, condemned the righteous, transgressed the covenant, banding together against the righteous and upright... During these years Belial will be let loose in Israel.
The apostasy started immediately after Jesus Christ (Yeshua) was crucified on the cross. Many 'liars' became afraid that Christianity would become too popular, These liars set about planning strategies to divert people from the true way to G-d and tried to discredit Christ's message of salvation.
Jesus is " The Way, The Truth and The life and no one can get to the Father accept through HIm'
To sum up on this topic, the message is:
- to be aware that there are many liars and deceivers in the world, their goal is to mislead people into accepting the dictator soon to make himself known to the world.
- Those who serve him will be skillful, professional and very charismatic leaders who will appear to know what they are talking about, they will have convincing arguments.
- Avoid entering into the traps he has set for people, debt is a trap, fornication, adultery, pornography is a trap, Denying the loving, graceful Almighty G-d, is a trap. All of these traps will weaken your defence and put you in a more vulnerable position where you will not be able to stand against the evil one. The only alternative left to you would be to submit to him - to accept the mark! Do not allow yourself to get into this position! For to do so means the following, " He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, so that no-one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom..." Rev 13: 16,
- " If anyone worships the beast, and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he too, will drink of the wine of G-d's fury.... "Rev 14:9
- " With these (miraculous) signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshipped his image." Rev 19:20,
- Once he has you in that web you cannot escape unless you have Yeshua as your savior then anything is possible!
- Do not doubt the Almighty G-d and Yeshua's (Christ) existence, or their ability to deal with evil.
- There is an appointed time for retribution but for the moment it is time to call those who have been deceived, to return to the Lord!
- The prodigal sons and daughters are to return to his forgiving, fatherly arms before it is too late!
- It is time for those who have weakened into temptations and traps, to fall on their knees before the Almighty, call on the Lord!
- It is also time for those who have been sitting on the fence or serving two masters to make a choice!
- The time is ripe for all those who do not know Christ, to call on Him, to save them!
- Ask Him to give you wisdom to understand and discernment to detect deception and the courage and strength to 'stand up ' for truth and goodness!
- Accept him, by faith, as the future King, the one who will return with a sceptre in his hand and a crown on His head. He will take the throne of His Kingdom - the whole world but he will also sit on the judgement seat.
Without faith it is impossible to please G-d, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of G-d. Look to the Lord, the author and finisher of your faith.
Ephesians 6:10 provides you with the armour of G-d; wear it - it is your protection against deception and lies!
