If you are married or have a fiance twirl her around in the kitchen. Be spontaneous - spontaneity is great, and it will totally give you a boost of energy. If you are single take a walk in the park and begin to thank God for everything you see, the trees, birds, even your very ability to walk. Find thankfulness even in the smallest of things it will really lift your spirit.
#2 Positive Self-Talk - Learn to have a language of positive self talk. Erase negative words about yourself out of your vocabulary. Learn to build yourself up with positive words to keep yourself encouraged. Don't talk down to yourself. You are a child of God, God is a positive God. There isn't any scriptures anywhere about God speaking negative about himself. Start your day with speaking encouraging positive words to yourself. Look in the mirror, smile at yourself and tell yourself how much you love yourself!
GET A GOOD LAUGH!!
#3 Mediate on Your Favorite Scripture
Find your favorite scripture and meditate on it all day. When you find yourself feeling down and discouraged repeat your scriptures 3-5 times or even more until you encourage yourself. Remember God's word is the most powerful it is on the face of this earth. God's word never, ever fails it does not matter what you are feeling, and how you are feeling. God's Word is true, that means it true irregardless to what your feeling are. The scripture was written through inspiration of God according to II Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"
#4 Find An Article On Laughing - There are a ton of ways to encourage yourself right here on hubpages. There are so many writers, who write to encourage, and inspire us all. Do an article search for hubs on laughing. There are a lot of hubs on how laughing is good for your health. Another excellent way is hop on over to youtube there are so many good clean comedians, and videos on laughter yoga. Look in the mirror, and smile have a good laugh you will feel 100% better.
#5 Start a Journal - Starting a journal on things you are thankful for is an awesome way to stay encouraged. It is very hard to stay discouraged once you begin to write and think on things you are thankful for. The scripture states according to Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
In your journal begin with the first praise report you received remember when you first got saved, and you were praying for something in particular, and as a babe in Christ you prayed with all your heart, and God answered your prayer you were so happy and thankful. It was when you first discovered that God's ear is open your prayers.
#6 Get Rid of Negativity
Squeeze negativity out of your life including, people, places, and/or things. Squeezing negativity out of your life is a hard one and is something that is not done overnight. But negativity is a big downer you may not realize it but certain people you have in your life could be a big magnet of negativity the next time you are around your friends pay close attention to your friends and what they say. you already know who you need to squeeze out of your life. You probably already said to yourself I need to cut this one or that one lose. Different places you go could be a negative magnetic you better believe there are a lot of places that are full of negative energy.
Have you thought about things you are doing that is negative? If you are living for the Lord doing certain things are considered negative such as; playing the lottery, smoking, having sex before marriage, drinking. You may be thinking what's negative about playing the lottery? Let's look at it this way. You are a born again christian, and every so often you play the lottery, but afterwards you feel bad, and within your spirit it disagrees with what you are doing. Don't you think this is a doorway to letting in discouragement? The same goes with smoking, and having sex before marriage, you may do, but you don't feel good about it. That's a doorway to discouragement, start taking small steps to work on erasing these things from your life. Join a support group for people who want to quit smoking it can be that bridge you need to help you stay encouraged until you break the habit.
#7 Put On Your Favorite Praise Song
Nothing lifts your spirit like a good praise or worship song! When you feel discouraged lift yourself up with a praise song. Start to magnify God! The scripture states in Isiah 61:3 "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousnes, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified." Put on the garment of praise, I know you are probably thinking how can I put on a garment of praise if I feel discouraged? Your favorite praise or worship song will help to usher you into the presence of God to put on that garment of praise.
#8 Thank God For Your Children - Your children are a blessing the scripture states in Psalms 127:3 "Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord:" It is a blessing to have children. I know, I know sometimes you get hot at things they do, but they are a blessing. Count yourself blessed just to have your children.
#9 Look How Far God Has Brough You - If you are married think about when you first got married and how far God has bought you, and your spouse. We all have a testimony of praise whether married, or single. When we look over our life, and thank God for how far he has bought us that is encouragement within itself!
