Love is God

Updated on November 29, 2014

Some love is easy to find.

Most people find love somewhere in their hearts for family.

There was a man.

In the last three decades there was a man who was fortunate enough that he was able to travel the world. In all his travels he both retrospectively and actively looked for something in common, something that was everywhere. You see that man fully believed in his heart that there was a God. And in his studies, both formal and self taught he recognized that the most clear attributes of a God would be omnipotence and omnipresence. From that he determined that if he could find one thing that was indeed everywhere than that thing would be God. A rather simple notion.

In his travels he visited all kinds of places. He saw orphanages, and war zones and hospitals. He saw massive waste dumps with folks living in them. He saw great armies and cops walking a beat. He saw shopkeepers and massive board rooms. He visited churches and cemeteries. He found himself in the richest of countries and the poorest of countries and communities from one extreme to the next. He dined with billionaires and he dined with the homeless and downtrodden. He met horribly disfigured beggars and he met champion athletes. He chatted with soldiers and he chatted with prisoners. He engaged with the Pius and clergy and he engaged with the atheist and all in between. He knew folks from the country and folks from the largest cities.

And the only thing all of these had in common was love. Some kind and sometimes hard to get at with some folks but they all had someone or something that they passionately loved. Just imagine that there is a world filled with love. It is true.

Love is all you need.

What do you really need?

When you are "in love" are you content?

Do not confuse what love is.

Love is not the absence of other matters: There are bad things in the world. People hate and commit heinous acts. They treat each other badly and they destroy civilizations and our planet. There are wars and police states and there are lands without freedoms to live peaceably. There are times and places where we victimize people for their race or color or gender. There are bad things in the world. The presence of these things do not mean the absence of love. Love exists even in the darkest corners of the world and in the darkest of times.

Also love is not the same as other good things. Sometimes good things just happen. Babies are born, wars are prevented. The ill get well. The lame walk again. People do good things for each other and these can happen all by themselves. While there will be love, love is not always the cause of good.

Perhaps the most famous of all quotes ever is this one:"Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

Shall we just understand that love happens, it just does. It is everywhere regardless of our efforts otherwise.

Some love lasts and lasts.

So how is it that there is love everywhere?

Certainly a strange notion that there is love everywhere if we turn on a tv or go to the malls this time of year and fight in lines, When we see the tragedies of the world unfold before us we see nothing but the violence and hate and injury.

But it is the man's considered opinion that when we peel away the layers of hardened hearts there is at the core of every human being a love. Oh, man has the infinite capacity to stomp it out and to bury it so deep that it cannot be seen or felt. But it still resides in each person. It is there from birth and it can flower or be suppressed but it is there nonetheless. Sometimes it takes a crisis for it to be seen in the most hardened of hearts and sometimes it takes being near to death.

Why is it that love is God just because it is everywhere. Well it is good everywhere also. That part of us that is love can do miracles and move mountains and more importantly move the hearts and souls of man. It cannot be reasoned against. It cannot do evil. It is in fact omnipotent in our lives.

Man has the free will to reject love but love is there no matter what. Rejection does not obliterate love, it simply cannot. A man who completely denies love and stuffs his own down deep where it cannot be seen, has a great big problem,,, he can still be loved even when he cannot love himself.

The wonderful world of commerce.
