It is the LORD your God you must follow: Deuteronomy 13:4
“It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.” Deuteronomy 13:4
So easy to get wrapped up in our day, in effect forgetting who gave it to us.
Drop my kids off each day at school. Last thing I say as I plant a kiss on each forehead: “Remember to talk to God today”. Every single day. I know they will remember it someday when I am gone; the investment is made now.
And, of course, it would also be a good idea for me to take some time and speak with Him as well. I use the term “speak” or “talk” intentionally vs. “pray”. Nothing wrong with the term pray, but the others tend to put a personal connotation on things. We can talk to or speak with someone we have before us and know. We can chat with a person. Turns out we can also talk with God, and He indeed can be viewed as a person we know. A Father in heaven, yes, but also a Brother and Advocate who once walked the earth and breathed air like us. Dealt with some pretty difficult stuff as well, so He understands what we face. Loves us too.
All the more reason to speak with and confide in Him daily.
