An Explanation
The purpose of this Hub now is to show what I believe the Bible, ( and that is to say, for English Speaking People, ONLY The King James Bible of 1611 and 1769 ), says about Salvation through Faith in Christ. I shall state the Word of God, and anyone may feel free to comment fairly and respectfully, and I shall reply in like manner. I believe there is but One Truth, and only One Way to be saved, even though we are all individuals, and the Paths we take that lead up to Salvation are as varied as we are. but I am also sure that as we live in Christ, we are at Liberty to choose how we serve Him, but only within certain Biblical commands, that we believe exactly what the Bible expressly tells us, but if there are issues on which it appears to be silent, we seek GOD's guidance through His Holy Spirit, to show us His Will through His Word. I also believe that since God has given us a free will, no one should be compelled to serve Him, as He wants us to choose Him, and so people have a perfect right to disagree with these teachings as I believe them.
I may not respect any belief that does not lead one to God, but to perdition, but I do respect that person's right to believe what they do, and say so, as long as we do so respectfully.
Now sure, God so loved the World and He wants us to be saved, as He is merciful and as it is written " God is Love." But He is also Just, and hates sin, and will punish it also, unless we repent. We need to believe the Whole Gospel, and accept that some parts might seem hard to take, either that it is a hard word, or some things seem miraculous, but be assured, the Bible is all True, and if You read it carefully, and even if You are not saved, GOD may see that You are willing to be taught, and may open it to You - GOD generally only speaks to Christians, in the sense that He guides them through His Scripture by the Holy Ghost, but He knows that the unbeliever needs to be drawn by Him in order to be saved in the first place.
Recall that Jesus referred to Gentiles as Dogs, since to the Jews, we were, but He was not doing so to put them down, but the specific event in the Bible is the Gentile woman who asks Jesus to " cast forth the devil out of her daughter. "
But Jesus said unto her, " Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs."
And she answered and said unto him, " Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs."
And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.
( Mark 7 : 26 - 29 )
So, our Lord was testing her to see her humility and know her place in the sense that then at least Jehovah was still the God of the Jews. He did this also to show to other Jews that the Gentiles could also receive from God if they had the right mind. Hallelujah !
Now I do acknowledge that some people may not be used to using such terms even to refer to themselves, let alone others, but look through Scripture and see that God does call us certain names, but does so, only so that we realise our sinful state, and repent. I can judge my own sin in the Light of God's Word, and God will judge me, but I can judge others, as long as, but only if, I judge righteous judgment, and do not do so hypocritically. As Paul wrote, " Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith. "
Ultimately, if we are saved and adopted by God we are His Daughters and Sons, so if He saves us, when we call upon His Name, He makes us His children.
So what must I do to be saved ?
Simple. Acknowledge that You are a sinner, as we all are, and no Christian can judge Your sin, or say this about You, if they have not already acknowledged this for themselves, for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of GOD. ( ROMANS 3 : 23 ). Now know this, that there is only One God, Who created the Universe, and He is Jehovah, God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, three persons, but only ONE GOD. He created mankind and put them in the Garden of Eden, but they disobeyed GOD, and ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and were thrown out by GOD due to disobedience. Through them sin entered into the World. Now over the ages GOD dealt with man in many ways, known as Dispensations, since although all of the Bible is written for us, not all of it is written to us, and in the Old Testament, the main one was with His Chosen People, the Jews, who were to obey the Law of Moses. God knew that no man could keep the whole law, since if one offend in just one point, he is guilty of all, and God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, Who was born of a Virgin ( Mary ), and Who never sinned, to die on the Cross, to shed His Blood, and to be buried, and rise again ( HE IS RISEN ! HALLELUJAH ! ), to show He had defeated death, and by this He fulfilled the whole Law, and brought in a new Dispensation of Grace, which includes Gentiles to be saved as well as Jews. Thus the Scripture says, If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS, and believe in thine heart that GOD hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. ( ROMANS CHAPTER TEN ). Thus, to be saved, you must first repent, which is to rethink your life, and realise You need to turn from sin, but not necessarily to turn from it actively first, because we are made perfect by the Spirit, and not the deeds of the flesh, and if we do so, to intend genuinely to turn from sin, and make Jesus our LORD, then one must believe the Gospel, and that is to acknowledge that there is one God, Jehovah, in three persons, and that the blood atonement death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only thing that can and will save you, and believe that it will, and You are saved only by this, by God's grace in sending His Son onto the Cross, and Your belief in it, NOT by any works - only GOD has done all the work, so nothing in my hand I bring - simply to His Cross I cling - You have to apply it to Yourself, it is not passive, and then You will be saved. Many things You do not know about will happen to You if you really and genuinely accept Christ, and GOD saves You. You will be baptised ( NOT of water - You can do that too, but that is a different thing ) into Christ, and baptised with the Holy Spirit, and You are at Liberty - you cannot lose this Salvation, because GOD does not lie, and promise You eternal life, then take it away. But this does not give anyone an excuse to sin, because we are now empowered as children of GOD to serve him, and are not bound to serve sin. If the Son therefore shall make You free, Ye shall be free indeed, and although You might not feel different, since we walk by faith, not by sight ( I CORINTHIANS 5 : 7 ), it is written, as long as You really meant it when You prayed to GOD, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new ( I CORINTHIANS 5 : 17 ), and You might suddenly see the world and GOD differently, and desire to do His Will.
