Knowing Your Identity
IDENTITY
What is your identity? Where do you get your identity from?
As humans we generally feel the need to belong to a group or to something, we like to say, “I am…” or “I belong to…”.
God created you and He knew you before you were even formed in your mother’s womb. At that time he already knew whether you will be a male or a female and He had all His plans laid out for you.
**Genesis 1:27 - So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
**Jeremiah 1:5 - Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
**Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
In the days we live in, the days of, “Anything Goes” and “You can identify as whatever you want” we have people identifying as cats, or as no gender or as gender neutral, adult males identifying as little girls, white women identifying as African Americans, and so much more.
I don’t understand any of it.
What I am writing here is not an attack on anyone, I am writing this to give my opinion on this matter as I understand it. And to try to understand why people are trying to change their identity.
I was created by God and born a white male, to European parents. I know who I am, and I know I can not change this—nor do I want to.
I know there are those who will say, “Why would you want to change, you are privileged, you were born with white privilege”. This is obviously not true. Just because a person is born a particular colour or sex does not make them more privileged or less privileged.
So let’s go back to the whole identity thing. Is it not true that if a person is born male, then they are a male? How can they be anything different? Or, if a person is born to European parents or have a majority European in their DNA are they not European? This is DNA, one can not merely say, “I am changing my DNA, and I refuse to acknowledge my ancestry or sex, I am now…”.
I have heard some people say that the ones who change who they are, are clearly unhappy people. Perhaps this is true. I do not know since I am not in their head and can not read their thoughts.
But does it matter? Does it affect anyone if one were to claim they are something they are not?
Well it does matter. They are living a lie. The lie affects them as a human being created by God. This should matter to everyone. It should be our duty as children of God to help those who live lies and tell lies, to pray for them and help them come to Christ so that Jesus can heal them and bring them to reality. For in Christ we are a new creation, we come out of sin and darkness to righteousness and light.
**2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
**1 Peter 2:9 - But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Your body is given to you by God. You are to look after it while you have it here on earth. You should not try to change it or who God created you to be. you are not a mistake nor does God make mistakes.
**1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
*1 Corinthians 12:27 - Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
**Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
So here we are. Just in this brief blog we can find out everything about us and who God wants us to be.
We are created by God, we are to look after the body He has given to us and since He does not make mistakes and He has His plan laid out for us, then we must obey Him, stay true to Him and ourselves and accept who we are. If we are not happy with who we are, then that is not God’s fault, but He is faithful to heal us and cleanse us and help us on this road of life.
Humans sin, we are selfish and we are rebellious. Satan lies, he manipulates us and our emotions and confuses us. But Jesus can and will help us become the Child of God that we were intended to be.
Lay your life at the foot of the Cross, repent and surrender to Jesus. He wants what is best for you.
Come as you are and allow Him to do His will with you. You will be amazed, if you let Him.
**1 John 3:1-3
3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
**Ephesians 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
**Colossians 3:1-4
3 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory
**Ephesians 4:22-24
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
**Romans 8:14-15
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
**John 15:5 - I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
**Genesis 2:7 - And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
