1. Arba’een Pilgrimage

Not many people know much about Iran except during conflict with the United States of America and Nuclear enrichment issues. However the predominantly Muslim country are Shia Muslims. Shia Muslims are known for long matches to celebrate or commemorate special occasions.

On a particular day religious faithful’s make a grueling foot pilgrimage during Arba’een as millions gather around Husayn Shrine in Karbala. Gathering dates are 20th day of Safar an annual festival in Iraq. Participants to this religious ceremony are Shia Muslims numbering 45 million.

Shia Islam

Shia Islam beliefs involves intercessions, holy book, judgment day and prophet hood of Muhammad. Branches of Shi’I Islam are Ghulat, Twelvers, Zaydi Shia, Batini. Holy days are Eid al-Ghadir, Eid al-Adha, Eid al-Fitr, Mawlid and Ashura.

Arba’een Pilgrimage

This religious ritual is held to commemorate martyrdom of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad. Husayn ibn Ali in 680 is the third Shia Muslim imam. On the fourth day of maythadom faithful’s make the journey on foot to Karbala a place Husayn with companions were beheaded by Yazid I army in the battle of Karbala. With over 25 million pilgrims in 2016 Arba’een pilgrimage is the world’s largest annual gathering of Shia Muslims.

2. Bishwa Ijtema

The history of Bengali Tabhighi Jamaat movement is traced to 1950s notable years 60,62,65,2010,2015. Bishwa Ijtema was first organized 1954 Chittagong then 1956 Narayanganj is believed to be one of the largest peaceful religious gathering in the world.

The word loosely translated as world and peace is organized in Bangladesh. Because of the huge number of faithful’s numbering 2 million (2001) both indigenes and foreigners the government of Bangladesh, road, rail system and army asset in infrastructure.

Infrastructure usually revolves erection of tents, sanitation, movement and security of the people. Districts are involved in crowd control while the government allocate about 160 acres for the event. The event in 2019 had over 5 million attendees and the festival usually run for 3 days however on some occasions because of bad weather lasted only one day.
