God or Evolution?

Updated on March 25, 2016

Curiosity about existence

Children are curious beings aren't they? With those cute faces, they look at you and ask "where do all this people come from?" or "where do people go when they die?" This are challenging questions. In fact they have led into people going to great depths of religion and science just to answer them.

As a matter of fact the question about the existence of living things is one that has been asked by every human being. Young or old. This question has been asked since the ancient time of great philosophers like Aristotle. What do you think, did living things come about as a result of evolution or did someone create them?

To answer the question correctly we must look at different answers given by different sources of information that we currently have. If we look at evolution theory, Charles Darwin states that life begun from non living matter. Well to be honest the scientists know more about the chemistry and molecular structure of life than most of us do. Yet they still cannot define with certainty just what life is. There is a big gap that separates the living things from non living things. Yet the evolution theory states that life begun from non living matter.

Living things are unique beings from the way they store information to the way they reproduce.Protein molecules are necessary for the function of a cell. Paul Davies a physicist states that a cell that is functioning needs different proteins and it is therefore not justified to argue that they formed by chance.

In what way did living things develop?

People have different explanations on how living things developed. When you look around, you see different kinds of living things. Your family members are a good example. What do you think of them? What about the animals, the birds, the insects and the trees. If living things came to be out of evolution, what will they be in the next 10,000 or 100,000 years?

What do you define life as? I think life is the essence of the manifestation and the foundation of the being. Well, to be honest no one can well define life because we only know about our lives. Science which is supposed to be based on facts, have not been able to prove the claim that living things developed from little strands of nucleic acids believed by scientists to have existed about four billion years ago. They also argue that this nucleic acids must have had the fundamental property of being able to grow and reproduce as stipulated by Charles Darwin in his evolution theory.

This is no fact as there is no prove to this argument. Further more if living things developed from nucleic acids, why is it that they are distinct from each other? From the trees, to grass, to fungi, to bacteria and all other things that have living cells. It is very clear that this argument contradicts with the creation as it is visibly seen. Also don't forget that this kind of arguments are done through the human mind. How I wish the animals and plants could speak for themselves!

If human beings are capable of creating something why is it difficult for some of them to accept that they were also created?

The word of God

Who is God?

"For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything." Hebrews 3:4

This verse tells us that God is the creator of everything. He is the master mind behind our existence and that of the earth itself. Genesis 1:1 says, " In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." The heavens here refer to everything that is above the surface of the earth. " Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the spirit of God was hovering over the waters," Genesis NIV. This verse clearly shows us that there was a time the earth was vague. It was only by the Power of God and the mighty work of Jesus Christ that the earth was formed Proverbs 8:30 NIV.

Genesis 1:26 explains to us how human beings were created. They were actually the last to be created. They were to be special beings on earth. God says, " Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." Humans were given the highest position. To be rulers over all other creation on earth. Human beings are also the only ones that possesses God's characters such as love, care, happiness, sadness, reason and many others. According to Genesis, human beings were created perfectly. Perfectly means that they were in a very close relationship with God. God decided to test their faith. When they failed the test, they lost the great relationship they had with God. That is when their perfection turned into imperfection and they were chased out of the Garden of Eden to symbolize the separation of human beings from God.

The bible explains clearly from the book of Genesis the origin of mankind and the whole universe. As one continues to read the Bible, it shows the plans that God has set up to restore the earth to its original state. That is without any form of wickedness or disobedience. God intends to make human beings perfect again. The Bible clearly shows us that human beings were never meant to die. Death was the consequence of their disobedience and that God had warned them. In the last book of the Bible, that is Revelation, death is destroyed and God's people are gifted with everlasting life. How glorious it will be for those who find favor in the eyes of the almighty. God has given human beings time to realize that they cannot rule them selves. A fact Adam and Eve disagreed with when they disobeyed God.

A quick brain buster: Why is it that human rulers have not been able to end the common sufferings of human beings such as, death, sickness, drought, famine, conflicts and many others?
