Online Bible Verses - Luke 19:10 Lost and Found: Jesus came to seek, find and save
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Luke 19:10
Jesus is called by many names in the Bible: Lord, God, Word, Messiah, Savior, Redeemer, Light of the World, Lamb of God ………………..
One from the list above reminds me of a song I used to listen to and still love, “Love is the Answer” by England Dan and John Ford Coley. One verse set in the song went like this:
“Light of the World, shine on me, love is the answer…..shine on us all, set us free, love is the answer….”
Looking back, they were probably injecting the Gospel into their mainstream music. 70’s was a time when the Gospel saw less opposition. It was a great time, at least for me. A lesser amount of trash on the landscape. Heck, my mom thought “Happy Days” was a bit racy. She thought Fonzie had too many girlfriends. I agree. As I get older, I seem to agree more with much of what she thought.
“Son of Man”. What does that title mean? It strikes me in a clear way, where my interpretation may or may not be correct. Always have to qualify that I do not claim to be the resident expert in scripture. Jesus, in John 1:1, is referred to as the Word; one in the same with God, yet separate in person. One reason, that He would later take on flesh and inhabit a human body. In that way, he was human. A man, born of a woman via the miracle of virgin birth. Thus, the title “Son of Man”. One of many names, the others delineating Him from being a mere mortal in the same sense as us.
And what did the Son of Man come for? For you and I. To save that which was lost. But lost in turn means we can be found, and I thank the Son of Man each day for pulling me out of the Lost and Found heap.
