Manna food for Wednesday September 15th
The concept of this series of hubs will be to produce a daily hub which delivers a spiritual message, using bible verse alone.
Verses used will be annotated for your Berean instincts to be satisfied, and for further contemplation if you desire.
Reading the word daily is an essential part of staying spiritually healthy, if you don't eat, you starve!
Speaking personally, I use the King James for study purposes, however I will be using the Amplified Bible for these hubs (mainly) unless it has significant contextual differences, for it's easier to read, and who knows, maybe somebody will read these who is not yet in faith!
If you like this series, please tell your friends, whether they be believers or not.... and leave comments, they help others know about this series in the feeds!
For sin shall not any longer exert dominion over you...
Since now you are not under Law [as slaves], but under grace [as subjects of God's favor and mercy].
What then [are we to conclude]?
Shall we sin because we live not under Law but under God's favor and mercy?
Certainly not!
Likewise, my brethren, you have undergone death as to the Law through the [crucified] body of Christ, so that now you may belong to Another, to Him Who was raised from the dead in order that we may bear fruit for God.
To those without (outside) law I became as one without law, not that I am without the law of God and lawless toward Him, but that I am [especially keeping] within and committed to the law of Christ, that I might win those who are without law.
Now sin is the sting of death, and sin exercises its power [upon the soul] through [the abuse of] the Law.
But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.
For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.
Jesus answered them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Whoever commits and practices sin is the slave of sin.
Now a slave does not remain in a household permanently (forever); the son [of the house] does remain forever.
So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free.
IN [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off].
Commentary:
We all face the prospect of dealing with sin daily, some of us hourly! - so we are not alone in these situations, indeed Christ Himself tells us His Comforter (the Holy Spirit) is always with us, to guide us to the safe haven of repentance and restoration.
Satan is a cunning enemy, so cunning that to unbelievers he has managed to cease to exist in their minds, despite the fact that he often controls their thoughts, deeds and actions.
The real cunningness of this is that these folk are totally unaware, and nice people too, they don't do terribly bad things, indeed they are often proud of their 'intelligence' and goodness, and that's Satan's most devious trick, for he has no problem with you being good, until you are a believer
So it is no surprise that he uses ordinary men and women to attack the body of Christ, and that his main tactic is to tell us, by innuendo and all other possible ways, how bad we are, how ungodly.... the sneer "Very Christian" slips from his lips daily, as he seeks to keep us from the destiny Christ has won for us.
Hopefully these scriptures will serve to remind us that Christ has has freed us from the law of sin and of death.
