Online Bible Verses - Matthew 20:17-19 It's Easter Week
“Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!” Matthew 20:17-19
Here Jesus pulls His crew aside and lets them know what will happen in the week to come. As per prophecy found in Isaiah chapter 53, which we looked at a couple of days ago. This week is a big one in the sense that Easter gets a great deal of focus. Lots of secular focus for sure. Bunny, candy, eggs, baskets……etc. People tend to take a day or two off. I might, as the kids will be home from school. Church will be uncharacteristically crowded next Sunday, with some people decked out in spectacular fashion. It is typically a day when we see a large number of big and colorful Easter bonnets, hats and such. Like I said, more focus. Not your typical Sunday. Should be the same as any Sunday really, if the sacrifice and resurrection did indeed take place. A day when we recognize a God who loved us enough lay down His life on our behalf.
Heck, if He really loves us that much, maybe we should also make it a point to talk to Him daily, even multiple times a day. Do some Bible study in the A.M, include my wife and kids. Thank Him for giving me air to breathe and food to eat.
