New Thought: Who I AM
Who I AM
Who I AM
By Gary Eby, MSW
Introduction:
Today I want to talk about my True Self. You are completely free to reject everything I say about spirituality. What I believe is not really that important. What is important has to do with the belief system you use to create a better life for yourself, and to create a healthier world for all of us. In addition, I will be talking about spiritual and religious concepts from a New Thought perspective.
You might ask, what is New Thought? In general, the New Thought movement is all about looking at the fundamental characteristics of religion and spirituality in new and different ways. Actually, it has historical roots in very ancient ideas about Christianity, but “it is not limited or bound by it.” (Rev. Wendy Craig-Purcell, Unity)
New Thought has no hard core doctrine or creed. It rejects the need for established rituals and even religious symbols. It is not a cult; it is not New Age. You don’t even have to give up your own faith to practice it. Let me begin by speaking my word about our True Nature.
Speak your Word:
From the Gospel according to John: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and life was the light of all people…”
What is the Word? Some people say the Bible is the Word. Others believe Jesus is the Word. For me, I believe the Word means God-Consciousness. From a New Thought perspective, when we speak our Word, we are talking about a personal connection to the Divine according to our own spiritual understanding. In other words, we can practice knowing and feeling the presence of God. This “new” and even mystical idea has powerful ramifications.
For example, God-Consciousness means we have the innate ability to experience our Creator in this physical world. But it requires that we take responsibility to figure out Truth for ourselves; other people or even amazing spiritual leaders can’t do it all for us.
There are probably an infinite number of ways and words to use to find your Truth. If you don’t like mine, you are completely free to use others. That is the heart of New Thought.
The benefits of speaking your Word are truly wonderful and amazing. Maybe the keys to the Kingdom are really inside of us as many enlightened leaders have advocated. Today I will do my best to turn these keys with prayer, meditation, and speaking my Word.
Who I AM:
Today I speak my Word about God-Consciousness. I speak three words: magnificent, omnipotent, Love.
I AM always connected to the magnificent part of me that is perfect, infinite, filled with light, joy, and love. This is my True Self.
I speak these words…I think these words…I feel these words…I live these words.
I see Spirit flowing and shining through all my parts with Omnipotent Good, Omnipotent Life, and Omnipotent Truth.
I open my heart to the blessings and grace of our Creator. I release anything that is negative or contrary to my True Self. I feel the presence of unconditional love from Divine Source always embracing me and my other parts. I feel the warmth of the Love-Light that sustains us and supports our human experience with Perfect Health, Perfect Wisdom, Abundant Living, and Everlasting Peace.
I speak these words…I write these words…I breathe these words.
This is the Truth that sets us free: magnificent, Omnipotent Love; magnificent, Omnipotent Love; magnificent, Omnipotent Love!
This is who I AM. And we are One.
Thank you God; thank you God.
Results:
I speak these words over and over each day as I walk, pray, write, meditate, breathe, and play. I AM so grateful for all that I AM and for all that I receive. I love myself “unconditionally and I live fearlessly” as the author Anita Moorjani in her book “Dying to be Me” would recommend.
I encourage you to start speaking your Word. For me, I have experienced lower blood pressure, healings from skin cancer, decreased symptoms from a chronic and very unpleasant illness, increased prosperity, closer friendships, deeper love in relationships, expanded musical abilities, more joy, daily happiness, and stronger faith.
I speak these words…I think these words…I feel these words…I smile these words. And so it is!
