Nothing New Under the Sun

Updated on February 12, 2012

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To everything there is a season, and
a time to every purpose under heaven:

A time to be born, and
a time to die;
a time to plant, and
a time to pluck up
that which is planted;

A time to kill, and
a time to heal;
a time to break down, and
a time to build up;

A time to weep, and
a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and
a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and
a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and
a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and
a time to lose;
a time to keep, and
a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and
a time to sow;
a time to keep silence, and
a time to speak;

A time to love, and
a time to hate;
a time of war; and
a time of peace.

I love this scripture. It makes me think of times- good and bad. It also makes me think that there is a purpose to it all. Sometimes in life we wonder what is the purpose of it all. The writer was certainly a very wise poet.

      This is a nice piece of poetics, keep in mind that I am a pagan not a Christian, but I really like your writing and the meter you use for your rhyme scheme. Good work Sky...

      Keep on Hubbing. Blake4d

      Heaven - (1.) Definitions. The phrase "heaven and earth" is used to indicate the whole universe (Gen. 1:1; Jer. 23:24; Acts 17:24). According to the Jewish notion there were three heavens,

      (a) The firmament, as "fowls of the heaven" (Gen. 2:19; 7:3, 23; Ps. 8:8, etc.), "the eagles of heaven" (Lam. 4:19), etc.

      (b) The starry heavens (Deut. 17:3; Jer. 8:2; Matt. 24:29).

      (c) "The heaven of heavens," or "the third heaven" (Deut. 10:14; 1 Kings 8:27; Ps. 115:16; 148:4; 2 Cor. 12:2).

      I personally believe that we have to choose and we are not cchosen and what we do there is stated in Reveletion. I don't think are minds can fathom what we will do there because we have an earthly mind now and I don't think we can grasp it but only trust God that it will be far better than earth.

      What and where is Heaven and what do you do there, if chosen?

      sky321, time is a very important commodity that no one except God has control over. Blessed be the name of The Lord that we learn to use whatever time is ours wisely.
