OUR BLESSED HOPE

OUR BLESSED HOPE

"No longer will you need the sun or the moon to give you light, for the Lord our God will be your everlasting light and he will give you glory. "

ISAIAH 60 : 19

The eternal kingdom of God is sure to come, it is getting nearer and nearer with each passing day, The world is very much convenient and seemingly there is no end for all its revelries. It seems the world will be here forever and there is no coming judgement to fall upon it. But the truth the world is already judged and its days are numbered and it is bound for closure. There is no more great future awaiting the world, it is destined for doom. If you are still depending upon the world for a great future, you must think ten times.

Oil prices in the world market is bound to increase with each passing week. I still remember just a couple of years ago when its price was just sixty dollars per barrel. Today it has jumped to 126 dollars per barrel and will continue to increase. With the increase in oil prices, prices of food and commodities continue to swell as world population continue to multiply. With each passing year our oil dependent economy continues to weaken. Consider also the inevitable effects of "global warming." Where all these things will lead us ? As of the present multiple wildfires are raging across the state of California. In just a year, the Philippines had experienced three major earthquakes already. Occurrence of category five typhoons have become more frequent. Japan after bracing against the powerful cyclone "Hagibis," is again being threatened by new powerful weather systems. Are these things the "new normal?" Seemingly, the birth pains of Matthew 24 have become more frequent and more intense. As of the present multiple wars are simultaneously occurring all over the globe. We are constantly witnessing the emergence of new viruses and diseases.

Still throughout all these ugly circumstances, a Christian could till look forward to a great future, for the everlasting kingdom of God is coming. It is on its way, getting closer and closer with each passing day. As Christians who are God' s precious and dearly beloved children, though we are living in the world, we should not be so much attached with the things of the world nor rest our confidence and hope upon the things the world could offer such as wealth, education, career, etc.for all these things are bound to fade away with the world..We should live as though we are already packing, preparing to leave this world for a much glorious destiny.

As Christians, being a heir of God' Kingdom we have a very great "future" to look forward to. As God promises in Jeremiah 29 : 11;

"For I know the plans I have for you ," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster , to give you a FUTURE and a HOPE. "

Every Christian who looks up to God bears this blessed hope in his/her heart.
