Oh By the Way
Questions about Wicca
So, I've been enrolled in my new psychology classes for my grad degree. Capstone, which tells me I'm practically at the end of my classes, (YAY) and something called Culture and Psychology.
I have the opportunity to do some study on a culture other than my own, and since most will be choosing some different culture like Muslims or those individuals from another part of the world, I have chosen to use the Wicca culture as my research project.
Considering the various cultural diverse areas of the planet, I thought I'd go for something a little less standard. In my Social Psychology class I wrote about the dis-function that is the Westboro Baptist Church, and in Composition, I wrote on why marijuana should be legalized. For my Cultural Psychology class, I've also found a possibly controversial topic, but there really is not a lot of proper study on the topic.
I've been interested and somewhat fascinated with what I've learned so far, but what I've learned is all academic. In order to properly obtain the type of cultural input that will give me the very best research paper (which I'd love to be able to publish for others to understand) I have been instructed to either immerse myself in the culture (which would be great, but I don't know any Wicca in Houston) or watch a movie, read a book, on the topic.
What I'd really love to do is have the opportunity, as my class goes forward, have access to a few cooperative Wiccans who would be willing to discuss different ideologies of the religion with me. There would not be extensive questions, just if I was unable to access information that could be verifiable through sources I personally have available, which includes the "New Age" region of the local Barnes and Noble book store.
So, I'd love to hear from any Wiccan/Pagan that is happy to share information about their culture with me in the course of education, and enlightenment.
Thank you, your attention is appreciated.
