On Personal Power

Updated on November 15, 2012

I will. My will means everything. I cannot stress this enough. Here, my concern is that some people will not understand what I say but that is bound to happen. One has to be ready to receive knowledge, otherwise knowledge is meaningless. Thus, if I make no sense … it is just fine.

From birth we are taught to use our reason. We build our knowledge around reason. Experience also adds to our reason and we form a way of thinking. Therefore, reason helps us navigate through Life. It is somewhat of a guardian to our existence.

Behind our reason stands our will though. And many people overlook this point. You will to exist – that is why You are here now! Know that. Your will is your personal power. Some people have more of it and some people have less. Personal power is something which needs to be worked on constantly and one must put reason aside for that.

On my last brush with my Death, I had a voice in my head suddenly tell me to move. I moved and a car dropped on the spot I was in, a second before. Reason did not tell me to move, actually reason told me to stay underneath that car to get the spare-tire out but I listen to my will. I hold enough personal power to live, whatever the circumstances – my will keeps me going. Here, I am not cocky – I am confident. Again, this has to do with personal power.

Our will is the most important thing. In Life, we gain personal power when we follow our Will. This is difficult in most cases because of other people’s expectations … because of reason. Reason tells us what to do, what society tells us to do, what our friends expect us to do …

So, reason is something which we learn to incorporate. It becomes part of us when we are born. And we need it - there is no way around it. The key here is to understand that our will trumps our reason. Our reason is there because of our will. We will our reason, we will everything: everything that exists.

To strengthen our personal power we need to quieten the exterior voices which enter in our head – the daily buzz of the world, so to speak. Meditation can help here - getting closer to our Spirit means getting closer to our Will. Or just defying reason can do it too but that is a more dangerous way of going about it and I do not recommend that, especially for people who do not have much personal power. Sometimes, I do like to start from the end though … I defy reason many times for no reason at all, just because I will.

Thus, to not make this any longer than it should be, one exercise in gaining personal power is to start paying attention more to ourselves, our thoughts and actions. We have to analyse ourselves and try to do more things that we will and less things that our reason dictates for us to do. By the way, this will completely change your Life. I will not lie about it, it does not happen over night (being persistent helps) but the changes are … incredible.

All the best!

      Greetings once again Mrs. Fpherj48,

I do think we have something in common, when it comes to our perception of coincidences - I do not believe in coincidences either!

I am happy You enjoyed the read here. Thank You for the conversation!

May Wakan Tanka walk with You.

I am a staunch believer in the absence of coincidence, in the full awareness that all things are as they should be, at any given moment. We DO have the massive power of will. Only fools would reject this. Fools, or perhaps those who wear blinders and refuse to see beyond their nose....maybe those who have not realized the times that their own will has been responsible for great things.

No magic hocus-pocus here...nothing mystical, but instead reality...I have power...WILL power that allows me to do, to think, to create and to avoid things that seem to most, incredible. And when asked How I do what to others is not possible. My answer is, "because I can." So can you, if you'll only accept and acknowledge.

beautiful hub with beautiful insight, mr happy.

as there is a good saying that where there is a will there is a way. if we are confident on doing something, the way will become paved for us.

wishing you a fruitful life ahead...cheers!

I would strongly disagree Mr. Anton. We will everything. Our reason comes after our will to live. And when our personal power makes the choices, it can only be good. Our Spirit knows what's best for us - better than the reason parents and teachers have equipped us with.

Reason is like a map - how we get to a destination is up to each one of us. This is how I see my world.

Regarding the car incident. As I said, reason kept getting me under the car. For the whole story, if interested check out my article titled: "Death made another gesture: why am I one in a million?" And that was the first time in my life when I can say that it was not intuition as the voice in my mind was not my own (as in tone, reason andf such).

I apreciate your comment. All the very best!

Interesting article. But how can you expect to live your life successfully based on your will alone? Reason must always be the over riding factor in making our decisions in life surely. Otherwise we are in danger of mostly making bad ones.

Was it not intuition followed by the dictates of reason that prompted you to get out of the way of the car that might have crushed you? Did you have cause to trust the voice in your head? Had it saved you before? If the answer here is in the affirmative, the decision was a very quick one, but based wholly on reason.

      Greetings Mrs. Earthy Mother,

the presence of your words brought me smiles - thank You! : )

I would like to say that perhaps since You stated that: "in my part of the world, this belief, like you say, is driven away by the busy, noisy world we live in", perhaps if posible You can find some time for yourself when You can focus on your being (meditate/pray). Stepping away from reason and into the land of our will-power, we can access incredible powers.

I met a man two winters ago who fell with his snowmobile through the ice into a lake, here in northern Ontario (past the sixtieth parallel north). This happened at night-time as he was returning home from hunting. He managed to crawl out of the water onto the ice but he had no strength left to move. That is where people found him the following morning ... alive and complaining! Haha ...

I first heard the story from other people then, I met the man. I couldn't believe the story so I had him re-tell it to me. I asked him what he did after he came out of the water, all soaking wet in the freezing cold and he said he just laid on the ice on his back and watched the stars. He told me he was not ready to die. He willed to live and knew that in the morning people would start looking for him and that is exactly what happend: people began searching for him with the sun-rise and he was rescued. He didn't even lose a finger ... now, that's will! (In my opinion anyway ...)

I have no reason to make things-up. I have no book release or anything. So, even if You do not trust me - just trust yourself - I do: I trust You, I will so.

I wish You all the very best - You have been in my prayers. Thank You, once again. : )

Hey Mr Happy...I did read this before but as you say no one commented here, thought I would. There is part of me that really would like to believe that all you wanted in life could be obtained with pure will alone - but in my part of the world, this belief, like you say, is driven away by the busy, noisy world we live in. There have also been strange coincidences in my life that have seemed odd but then just get dismissed. I like your hubs and am strangely attracted to them...I am going to try to listen more to the inner voice and have faith in more than just the external world and the lack of power I usually feel in it. Looking forward to hearing more of your insights Mr Happy!! Xx

Great hub, Mr. Happy. As alway. I'm with Quirinus, I enjoy Carl Jung's work as well, and have read a decent amount by him (I'm no expert). There are abolutely no coincidences in my life. My husband and I met twice before we finally met for the 3rd time, figured out we had met twice before, and realized we were soul mates. It was no coincidence that we were both divorcing our respective spouses at the same time. :D

Precisely as you say: "There are no coincidences in my world." This is why I'm a avid follower of CGJung and his teaching about the soul and synchronicity.

      Greetings Mr. Quirinus,

I will have to go find that article You speak of. Thanks for pointing-out the direction for this wolf. There are no coincidences in my world.

I am of the opinion that sorcerers and true priests can access incredible powers through their will and faith. They are both fairly similar in my mind.

Thank You for passing by. I wish You all the best!

Thanks for the delicious insights, Mr. Happy, glad to have found your hub! I just came from reading ThussaysNanaMarie’s hub and thought there might be some synchronicity for having landed on this hub after hers, which is about the Holy Spirit’s guidance. What I think it may be showing us is everyone’s need to quiet the noise of the external world (including reason) and be able to listen to what you refer to as one’s Will (that is, in her hub, the Holy Spirit’s guidance), through meditation and prayer. I hope this makes the connection. -Quirinus

P.S. Thanks for recommending the book version of "The Secret." It's really a treasure! -Same

Yes Mr. Borntocare, I fully agree with You that: "it is our will, in part, that moves us forward to any position in which we truly want to be!"

I especially like that You used the word "any". I do believe that if we know how to will, if we have enough personal power to see what we wish then, our wish comes true: our will manifests. And it is not important how, it just does, one way or another - our will makes it happen.

Thank You for the comment. Cheers! : )

      Hi Mr. Happy!

As I read this I was reminded of the quote which I attribute to Naomi Judd. She said, "I know enough, I have enough, I am enough." There is a will necessary to adopt that quote, yet when adopted there is great personal power in knowing we already have all we need and are going to get. So, it is our will, in part, that moves us forward to any position in which we truly want to be!

      Peace be with you!
