Online Bible Verses - Jeremiah 32:17 - LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power
“Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”
Jeremiah 32:17
Sovereign: Above all, one of a kind, entirely distinct, in a class by oneself, having no equal, in full authority and having all power.
One clear demonstration of that power, what we see all around us. For that matter and to keep it simple enough for a few paragraphs, let’s stick to the very design of our eyes, which enables us to view the rest of His creation.
I walked out of the eye doctor yesterday marveling at the genius and complexity of their design. Sad that one of mine is perhaps irreparably damaged, but also happy I still have decent, albeit compromised, vision. I have plenty of dents and it is not God’s fault. Rather, the fact they can be classified as dents vs. non-operational is a praise.
Let’s consider a few aspects of God’s design in those eyes. I had to wear shades post appointment, due to the fact my eyes had been dilated. Which made me well aware and appreciative of the variable lenses He put in place to open and close in letting the correct amount of light in. Next, consider the system of muscles and nerves which steer our eyes in unison, allowing us to follow and focus on moving objects. Our brain determines the real time correction required, then fires off signals to 12 nerves. The nerves then prompt various muscles to pull and steer our eyes into perfect position to achieve focus. In engineering, we refer to this type of design as one utilizing feedback. In his own designs, man actually imitates God, employing many of the same concepts. Our designs, however, pale in comparison.
So one of my nerves is shot, can’t get the right focus. I can compensate by tilting my head and shutting one eye when needed. Like I said, banged up some, but OK. God is still great. Someday He will give me a new body with new eyes. He keeps His promises, so I am counting on it.
