Inspirational, Uplifting and Encouraging Bible Verses: Leviticus 19:18 - Loving Your Neighbor, Loving Others
“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.”
Leviticus 19:18
History tends to repeat itself, so being aware of who you can and cannot trust is a good thing. Harboring ill will over an extended period of time is not.
Put another way, those who are simply looking out for #1 are eventually identified, and should be avoided. Seeking or constantly contemplating revenge for any wrongdoing they have done should also be avoided.
Perhaps one clarification in order here, defending oneself vs. taking revenge are two separate actions. Self-defense is just that.
I’m thinking a lot of us have struggled with chronic and vengeful anger, and have felt its drain on our being. It can tear you down.
So let vengeance be God’s, and at the same time ask Him to balance our perception and forgive where appropriate.
Love people first. Identify those who do not love back, but do not harbor destructive long term anger.
