Inspirational, Uplifting and Encouraging Bible Verses: Matthew 16:25 - Planning for Eternity; Planning for the Future
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”
Matthew 16:25
Pretty well known verse set here, Jesus speaking.
Put another way, left up to his own devices, man is doomed. With just him driving he goes his own way. And that way leads to destruction, Proverbs 14:12:
There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
We think we can handle it, but can we? Take a look around, look at all the tragedy. Are there any real winners in the end? How many old timers do we see that truly age gracefully? Those that are content, comforted and confident about where they are and where they are going. And, if there are such people, what can we say and observe about them?
We can plan to the best of our ability, utilize our gifts and strengths to get ahead, even try to be the best people we can be based on what we see as good. But scripture, and Jesus, tell us we cannot account for it all in and of ourselves. We need His help, and if we surrender our life to Him, He claims to be faithful in saving us and it.
In effect, if we hand over the steering wheel, He will take us with all our defects, and literally save us from a self-imposed demise.
Gosh, are we really that badly in need of help? Everyone can decide for themselves, my conclusion is a resounding yes.
