Online Bible Verses - Psalm 119:60 - I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.
“I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.”
Psalm 119:60
When is it a good time for me to seek God, to put Him first and allow His will to be done in my life?
My flesh says put it off for a while.
My spirit says now is the time, for a couple reasons:
1. Number one, I know not the day and the hour when I will be called to be in His presence. This is not to imply or suggest that a lack of consistent and complete commitment just prior would disqualify me or anyone else from the grace imparted and righteousness imputed by His perfect sacrifice. Otherwise, He would not be perfect at all, in that the job He did was insufficient. Not only that, His claim of being my Savior would be false. Why the focus on obedience then, driven in part, by the expectation of seeing Him? Because I want to peacefully anticipate, look forward to seeing Him. Feel the same peace I experience now, coming from knowledge I am doing His will. To look forward to being told “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
2. Secondly, wisdom learned via two routes: easy route when I read and meditate on His word, and make good choices. Obedience does have reward. Likewise sin has consequences; sometimes wisdom comes at a price.
Driving back from Starbuck’s today, and thoughts like these were going through my head. 47 years old, the time is now. My prayer was that He just take hold and own me more today than yesterday. Look at things through eyes He gives me, see it His way. Like Paul says, let Him crucify my flesh, crush my former self. Say good bye to the former me, who still hangs on stubbornly.
