Overcoming Challenges of Life
Refuse to Dwell on Problems
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
James 1:2 (NIV)
To be a beautiful person, a woman must have a positive attitude towards the negative circumstances she encountered daily in her life. She maintains her calm spirit amidst life’s adversities. Her joy remains in spite of the presence of trials.
Her heart is completely rested in God that life's troubles and problems are not sufficient reasons to shake her faith. She is the kind of person that will not dwell on problems. She will always find the reason to be strong. She always finds a way for her problems to be resolved.
This kind of woman is not overwhelmed by the negative circumstances she encounters each day. She does not focus on them, instead, she casts her care upon the Lord and sets her focus on Him. She refuses to dwell on problems, instead, she rests in Jesus’ presence and love for each day. If we dwell on our problems, we cannot make any progress, we cannot perform the best we can in this life. We are to dwell on the promises of God for each day.
During the times when the Israelites were living in Egypt, there was one admirable Jewish woman who demonstrated the strength of character at such a time of adversity. She was Jochebed, the mother of Moses. The Egyptian king at that time issued a command that every newborn Hebrew boy must be thrown into the Nile River. Moses mother was not daunted by these unfavorable circumstances. She was able to think of a good resolution for this crisis. Her plan succeeded and the boy Moses was delivered. Moses’ mother was a woman of courage and strength. She is indeed a great model to follow in times of crisis.
(Bible Text: Exodus 2:1-10)
Sister Cora is such a woman who demonstrated fortitude and strength of character during the most trying time of her life when her husband was suddenly killed. As a young widow then with very young children, she hurdled life alone with all the difficulties of raising children. Today sister Cora can very well smile for all her children have completed their studies and are now working as professionals. Such display of strength and courage of a woman in times of adversities truly makes her attractive. How I admire strong women who can take charge in the absence of men. Courage or fortitude is such a great virtue to behold among great women of faith.
Be a woman of great faith, and be a woman of great courage.
“Each trial is a gift. It’s a chance to know God’s strength and supernatural joy and to show that following him is worth everything.”
