Part 1 - Do Not Be Deceived in the Garden

Updated on November 11, 2017

Part 1 Do Not Be Deceived – Genesis in The Garden

The reason for this study series is that one of the most important things Jesus and the disciples taught is not given the importance it requires by so many that profess christianity. In not understanding and guarding ourselves as these warnings require many miss out on becoming disciples of Christ by not doing ALL He requires. We must become true disciples of Christ to become sons of God because only sons of God will be allowed entry into the eternal Kingdom of God. If not you will be disappointed at judgment when your name is not found in the Lamb's Book of Life.

This study series is going to explain fully some essential scriptures that are commonly misquoted, partially taught or purposefully distorted for reasons only the teacher knows, thereby changing the meaning or discounting their importance. Hopefully this will give you the incentive to “test all things to see if they be of God” as scripture requires. There is no other way to assure your relationship to Christ and your personal eternal destination. You cannot trust any man to tell you the truth, that is the responsibility of the Holy Spirit and it is your responsibility to be sure to get the truth from from THE HOLY SPIRIT of God and from NO OTHER spirit. You should never believe anything taught by anyone (including me) unless and until it has been confirmed as truth to you personally by the Holy Spirit of God.

Contrary to what most churches teach the purpose of learning about scripture is not to cause you to believe in Christ or to go to “church”, but to make you a disciple of Christ. Becoming a disciple of Christ is the ONLY way to become a part of the true church of Christ, each disciple of Christ is one of the “living Stones” of which His church is built. Believing in Christ unless you do all He requires is a useless effort. Here are Jesus own words regarding this. Notice there is no mention of a “church” building or clergy. He has commissioned His disciples to do the work of the ministry as noted in Ephesians.

Matt 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Do Not Be Deceived.

Jesus Christ warned us

Luke 21:8-19 And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them. 9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately." 10 Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake. 13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. 14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. 18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. 19 By your patience possess your souls.

The disciples warned us

1 Cor 6:8-11 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Cor 15:33-34 Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits." 34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

2 Cor 11:3-4 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted — you may well put up with it!

Gal 6:7-10 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all,

1 Tim 2:14-15 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.

2 Tim 3:12-15 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus

James 1:16-17 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

These warnings are to be heeded every time you read or hear something professing to be of God or scripture, no matter what, where, when or from whom.

Now we continue. Some of the most misunderstood and essential scriptures pertain to the curses that were put on man, (male and female) and on the serpent after Adam disobeyed God shortly after the beginning.. There is much in the old testament that teaches us about God and what He expects from His sons. NOTHING in the Law of Moses is applicable to this age we live in, it was given only to Israel and for their age which ended at the cross, but God never changes so we can see the nature and character of God through out the ages there to better understand Him and His ways.

The Curses in the Garden.

Adam was given authority over all the earth and its inhabitants when created by God. He could do anything he wanted with anything except for ONE item, he was told if he ate the fruit of the tree of the KNOWLEDGE of Good and Evil he would die. His wife was deceived by the serpent and ate of it which would not have been a problem if Adam had refused the fruit when she gave it to him. He was the authority over all and if he had not listened to his wife and had obeyed God there be no penalty. But since he disobeyed God he had to die. Since Adam was programed to live forever, God would have to reprogam his body with the requirement to die. Now this is important to understand. Adam was the father of all man therefore from this point on all men would have to die. Adam forfeited our eternal life, he brought death to all men that would be born after him. Most of the church system teaches the false docrine that Adam brought us sin, but sin was not known until after he had understanding of evil, that came after Adam ate the forbidden fruit, after he had disobeyed God and was under the penalty of death, it was there on the earth, lurking unknown inside man but unknown to him. The natural consequence of eating the fruit exposed sin to man and made him accountable for it. Scripture is clear, every man is accountable only for his own sin and no man is without sin. Also from scripture we know that the only way for sin to be forgiven is by repentance by the one that sinned. Yet the "churches" teach that Jesus died for our sins which Jesus says is a lie, a doctrine of man. Jesus says He came to bring us life, to make the eternal life that Adam so foolishly forfeited available to all who will meet His requirements for redemption. He also remits, erases the record, makes it as if you never sinned. But Jesus and even God Himself cannot remit (do away with) unrepented sin. Jesus defeated death by His resurrection, this gives Him ownership over death and as the owner of LIFE He can give it to whom He chooses. He sets the requirements for salvation and HE SAYS we must do ALL He requires to receive life eternal. That is why He is the only one that can write names in the Lamb.s Book of Life, it is HIS book, and As Lord of this age NO ONE can change His requirements or write a name in it. .

John 10:10-16 I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. 11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. 12 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. 13 The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

The Serpents Curses

There are many assumptions about the serpent, some say he is a snake, some say he walked upright before the curse and more, but the simple truth is we do not know exactly what he was or how he walked, but we know that now he is to crawl on his belly, but it is not that important. What is important is the rest of the curse.

Gen 3:14-15 So the Lord God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed;He shall bruise your head,

He received multiple curses that must be fully understood. First he is now the most cursed of the animals and beasts. Two he will forever have to crawl on his belly. Three He will eat dust all the days of his life be cause of his method of travel. Four the woman will dispise him, be his enemy. Number 5 Her children will also dispise him and will bruise his head. Pretty well describes how most feel about serpents dosnt it. Did you notice He never get to eat bread, just dust, He never can partake of the good things of God.

Dust is not good, it has no real value, it is what man is made of and which man will return to, this shows that the natural man has NO VALUE in the kingdom of God, it is only what God, through Christ and their Holy Spirit can make of a man that will pay the price, that will have eternal value. The Spiritual man that is a true disciple of Christ is the new and eternal creation that is the real son of God. This is why only the sons of God, the true disciples of Christ who DO ALL HE requires of them can enter the eternal kingdom of God. It is very important to understand this. Believing that Christ is the son of God will never make you a son of God, only they that DO ALL He requires of them can become true SPIRITUAL sons of God and enter the eternal kingdom.

Adams Curses

Here are the full curses that God put on Adam and all man because of Adam, as recorded in scripture'.

Gen 3:17 And He said to the man, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree about which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat from it, the ground shall be cursed because of you; you shall eat of it in sorrow all the days of your life. Gen 3:18 And it shall bring forth thorns and thistles for you, and you shall eat the plant of the field.Gen 3:19By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread until your return to the ground. For you have been taken out of it; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.

The curses on Adam other than death were because he listened to his wife instead of God, disobeyed God by putting his wife ahead of God.. It brought not one but multiple curses on Him, the last curse noted, death, was for disobeying God, the others for putting his wife ahead of God, God must be number one.

The reason Adam could not stay in the garden after his disobedience was so he could not eat of the tree of life in his fallen condition and not EVER be able to receive eternal life. Many people only mention one or two of the curses on Adam but you MUST understand all 7 of them and the reason for them.

Eves Curses

Here is the full curse on Eve.

Gen 3:16 He said to the woman, I will greatly increase your sorrow and your conception;you shall bear sons in sorrow, and your desire shall be toward your husband;and he shall rule over you.

You must understand all parts of this curse. One she will have greatly increased sorrow. Two she shall have a painful and uncomfortable pregnancy and birth. And even more important are these two that most churchmen never teach. Three her desire will be to be her husband. If you go to the actual scripture it says "Gen 3:16 your desire your husband" the words 'shall be ' are not there. It means she will desire to be the ruler. And four to prove 3, he shall rule over you. So many woman do not understand the reason that God created woman and what she lost in the curse. She was created to be an helpmeet to man, but she lost much of her freedom and joy for her disobedience, she now will be jealous of her husbands authority and is to be subservient to her husband. We find new testament affirmation of this principal in these scriptures.

1 Cor 11:3-4 But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

1 Cor 11:8-10 For man is not from woman, but woman from man. 9 Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.

A number of years ago the head of a major denomination declared he would be supporting the correct understanding of this scripture, that men are head of the home and are to rule over it.. There was a terrible uproar and this was quickly quenched and has not been mentioned since. Truth sometimes upsets too many people to be allowed to raise its head in the church system. . Preventing the truth from being taught does not change what God has declared but it does cause great problems for those that allow themselves to "be deceived" when they do not allow the Holy Spirit the opportunity to show them truth by testing all things.

Unfortunately many who want to teach about the scriptures do not understand the full weight of the burden they put themselves under. And many have their minds made up and can not be corrected, even with scripture proof, because they do not test all things to see it they be of God.. In fact 9 out of 10 will cry that they are being unrighteously attacked, when in fact someone is trying to help them understand truth and they are resisting The Holy Spirit and not the person.. And we that feed must never forget that we are to lead the horse to water but we ARE NOT TO TRY to force it to drink, we might just get kicked in the head. And I can tell you from personal experience that is a very painful experience that you do not want to have..

James 3:1- My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
