Penn Jillette, The Atheist Magician, Placing Many Christians, Including My-Self To Open Shame….
Months ago, I read an article about Penn Jillette - one half of the famous magician duo - about his conversation he had with a Traditional Christian fan who, apparently, attended one of his shows, presumably, in Las Vegas where the duo performs. Normally, I would not be reading about Mr. Jillette because I know that he is an Atheist and advocate for that belief system. However, Mr. Jillette conveyed a story about the Christian brother, who attended his show, that is worthy to be noised and when heard, will placed many Christians, including myself, to open shame.
When Mr. Jillette told the story, he did not convey whether the Christian came to his show to see the magic act and then the latter was moved by the Holy Spirit to witness to Mr. Jillette about Christ Jesus. Mr. Jillette simply said that after the show, the Christian gentleman told him that Christ Jesus wanted him to turn from his Atheist ways and believe in Christ Jesus because the dire consequences of not believing/knowing Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior was an eternity in a literal burning Hell. The Christian further went on to tell Mr. Jillette that because he loves him that he could not leave without telling him about Christ Jesus and the eternal perdition of not believing and accepting Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior!
Mr. Jillette - who is still an Atheist after the Divine happenstance/conversation with the Christian witness… the latter who also gave him a New Testament Bible - said that the Christian gentleman who witnessed to him must have done so out of sheer love. Mr. Jillette found it admirable and was amazed that the Christian would take time out to tell him about Christ Jesus and the dire consequences of not accepting and knowing the Lord as Savior. Once again, let me underscore Mr. Jillette’s logic, which was that only someone with pure love would have taken the time out to witness to him and those who do not believe and know Jesus as Lord….
I have conveyed in this very forum of my being a coward in not preaching about Christ Jesus to unbelievers like how some of my fellow Christians do on the trains that I ride right here in Brooklyn, New York. Just to show you that the Holy Spirit is not partial, there are times when the Holy Spirit chastises and admonishes me about my being said coward for not conveying the Gospel … reminding me that I should have no excuse because as a lawyer, I have argued before peers pertaining to the secular law, yet I cannot impart the greatest of gifts, which is Salvation through Christ Jesus? My very own mother, who is not as articulate as I am, has no such compunction or fear of telling others about the Love of Christ Jesus and His Salvation… knowing the unbearable pain of not knowing Him as Lord and Savior. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUIa674GGCo
According to Mr. Jillette, if we, who are Traditional Christians, truly believe in a literal burning Hell - and we do - then why wouldn’t we want to tell others - out of sheer Agape love - who do not believe about Christ Jesus, notwithstanding that we might get mocked, scorned, rejected, disparaged, or even be looked down upon? I am told that when I write about Christ Jesus in this forum that I am indeed doing, to a lesser extent, ‘witnessing’ like my dear mother and that brother who witnessed to Mr. Jillette, yet I know it is not enough… otherwise the Holy Spirit would not prick my conscience concerning this grave matter of not witnessing to others about Christ Jesus.
In our Bible, Luke 19:16-31, Christ Jesus Himself spoke about how diabolically painful it is in Hell when He conveyed to us about the rich man and Lazarus… think of it that even after 2000 years, that the rich man is still burning in the literal Hell. We must also be mindful that Hell is forever and that it must have been important for the very God in the flesh, Christ Jesus, to have spoken about Hell in His Bible more than any other Salvation topic. So then, if we, Traditional Christians, speak out against the immorality of Abortion or homosexuality or Fornication, or Adultery - incidentally, even we ourselves, have fallen short of the Lord in those respects - and we have, we do so out of love and not wanting anyone to go to a literal burning Hell for eternity. We do not speak out or point our proverbial fingers out of judgment of those who engage in those proscribed behaviors listed above and note that this is not an exhaustive list (See 1st Corinthians 6:9-11)… we do so out of sheer Christ Jesus’ love because we are told that these behaviors and a belief that said behaviors are not immoral will doom those of us who practice and hold such a demonic belief… to Hell forever.
I must further explain and convey that many of these sinful trespasses believers of Christ Jesus engage in too; the difference is that when we falter… we ask the Lord for forgiveness and relief from such demonic influences. However, there are those of us who go against the Word of God and believe that engaging in these behaviors are ‘natural’ and pay no heed to the Lord’s admonition against engaging in said behaviors. In essence, we are saying that Christ Jesus is a liar, notwithstanding the fact that we are warned that God/Christ Jesus is not a man, whereby, he is prone to lying (Numbers 23:19). So then, if He warned of engaging in these behaviors and the consequence of doing so, then He is telling the truth… concerning these matters, He would say, “Verily I say…!”
Please pray for myself/family and Mr. Penn Jillette - that the latter is converted to Christianity - and that we are continually doers of the Word that became flesh in Christ Jesus and that we worship Him as such; and if there is anyone who reads this blog and does not know Christ as Lord and Savior, I beseech you to simply ask this Jesus to manifest Himself… and know that He is faithful to do so because the Lord takes no pleasure in the death of a Sinner (Ezekiel 33:11) and note also that the Lord said that Hell was not made for humans, but for the Devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41).
As it is my wont lately, I have used music and here I have used Judy Jacobs,’ Days of Elijah and my favorite musician, Prince's rapturous, The Cross, to help flesh out the themes of this blog – see hyperlinks and drill down and enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8H2jCDi1fM
