Plotting Flying Stars Chart
As you can see from the Figure 2, the Period number 7 is indicated in the Center of the Chart to denote for Period 7 which is the Main Star of the Flying Stars palace. After you have numbered the center of the Flying Stars Chart, we can proceed to plot the rest of the numbers for each palace. We shall named the palace of the Flying Stars Chart using A,B,C,D,E,F,G and since A is represented by Period 7 then B will be number 8 and so forth. You can view the chart as Figure 3 and the complete numbering of the Chart is shown on Figure 4.
On the right top of the Main Star will be defined as Siang Sin Star (S) also known to be the facing direction and if your main door is facing South-West, this indicates by number 4 palace. When checking the facing direction, it is defined as the most Yang energy source which is normally the main door but at times, it can be the living room where there are more windows creating Yang active energy with bright lights. There is no hard and fast rule about choosing the Facing direction as long as it derives from the most Yang energy source of entry. You can see normally for Feng Shui master will utilize the Luopan as a tool to confirm the direction of your house facing direction. Luopan itself is constructed with trigrams within the concentric circles with wordings in Chinese that tells each direction of the palace. The standard method of taking the direction of the house will be with 3 separate readings to confirm its accuracy without too much variations. This is done while standing 3 feet from your main door and moving back to 6 feet and thereafter 9 feet away. Readings are taken from inside the house as well as outside the house. An example is shown in the video. Or you can read more about the facing & sitting direction to understand better.
Compass Reading Facing Direction
Once you have taken the sets of readings, you can check the facing direction according to its degrees from the Chart below.
337.5 to 22.5 degrees - North
22.5 to 67.5 degrees - North-East
67.5 to 112.5 degrees - East
112.5 to 157.5 degrees - South-East
157.5 to 202.5 degrees - South
202.5 to 247.5 degrees - South-West
247.5 to 292.5 degrees - West
292.5 to 337.5 degrees - North-West
Checking the degrees of the reading taken and look at the Chart of the palace that matches the Main Star. This is represented by Siang Sin Star written as S on the Chart as Sitting palace. Replace it with the number of the direction. Next will be the Chor Sin Star represented by C also known as Mountain Star. This Star is opposite of the Siang Sin Star and if the facing direction is 222 degrees which means the star is Number 4. This means the opposite of the Siang Sin Star will be Number 1 representing the Chor Sin Star (Mountain Star).
