Planets in Leo Part 1: Ascendant, and Mercury

As you know I have been playing with this scenario in my head based on the other 5 personal astrology planets (other than your sun/zodiac sign). When you first meet someone what planet do you see? Do you see the sun sign, moon sign, ascendant sign, etc? It is tricky to say what personal planet someone first sees in a person. Even so, it’s fun to try and take a go at it.

Here is my theory:

When someone first meet you (and vice versa) they meet your ascendant sign. After a while once they get to talking with you they meet your mercury and Venus signs concurrently. It is on this occasion you laugh, joke, and get to know each other more. After you both depart, deciding that you both like each other and want to meet up somewhere. You both suggest places to go and agree on a place. Later on they meet you, decide that they like you even more and meet several times with you. It is on these occasions when they meet your sun sign and your basic personality. You hang out, have fun and they get to see your Mars sign in action.

After a while they get to know you more personally, soon becoming close friends. It is there that they get to see and notice more of your Venus and Moon signs, while getting a taste of the darker sides of your mars and mercury signs.

In this scenario I will be talking about Ascendant/Rising, and Mercury, in the zodiac sign of Leo. This does not specifically refer to the sun sign in Leo (some similarities may apply however).

Your ascendant/rising is Leo, so your first house will most likely be in Leo and ruled by the Sun. Leo is ruled by the Sun and is the fixed fire sign of the zodiac. The sun in zodiac symbolizes the father, confidence, vitality and creativity. So Leo rising person is automatically confident, bold and filled with energy. The sun is the planet of yourself, its shines quite bright as a Leo rising. You will usually tell a Leo ascendant apart from the other rising signs. Energetic, regal, and usually the center of attention (either by accident or on purpose).

The Leo ascendant person is sure to make an impression. The Leo ascendant is bold, dramatic with a flashy fashion forward style with a gang of their cubs (oops I meant friends) following them around. Ok not all Leo ascendants are alike. Even so, even the quieter less fashionable and bold Leo ascendants, radiates a warm, confident personality that is hard to ignore.

Just think of Beyoncé (Destiny’s Child days, Michelle, Kelly who?), a Leo ascendant in full form. Other celebrities with Leo ascendants include: Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Depp, and Justin Timberlake to name a few.

By the way a quick tip on how you can tell a Leo ascendant is by their hair. They usually have large, big mane (that resembles the mane of a lion). Even if the hair is not big, it’s quiet glorious and beautiful. Remember to Leo (no matter the planetary placement) their hair is the crown of their glory.

Putting that aside the Leo ascendant person is very childlike and optimistic taking life by its horns. Passionate and energetic (a bit brash and in your face) in the true fire sign fashion, a Leo rising person outgoing, extraverted (no matter the sun sign), and is always up for a good time.

Fun most of the time, they are above dramatics, their egos, temper tantrums and bossiness (especially if their sun is in an air or fire sign). Even so, most of the time this rising sign is a big cat, just wanting to play.

Your Mercury is in Leo, so you communicate and think in a Fiery/Solarian way. Leo is a fixed fire sign ruled by the Sun. Here this Leo mercury communicates in a fiery, enthusiastic and dramatic way. Passionate with a flair for exaggeration and theatrics the Leo mercury is filled with stagy, visual words. Quite passionate in speech can give away to a self-centered, stubborn, and boastful communicator who can be overly sensitive when they feel their opinions and ego is being attacked or taken for granted.

The Leo mercury (a fixed fire sign) can take a long time to change their opinions and get over a hurt or slight. Even so, this Lion Mercury is filled with warmth, confidence and cheerfulness that most of the time this will not happen.
