Preach Jesus and Him Crucified Pt Two

Updated on September 22, 2009

You've got to believe this Gospel

Why everyone needs to be saved. Why everyone deserves to go to Hell. Why there must be a Hell in order for there to be a Heaven. Why God ordered no justice for the murder of Able and how that ties into the gospel. And finally how the resurrection of Jesus Christ can make you righteous.

To effectively preach the Gospel you’ve got to understand and fully believe some things about the gospel.

You’ve got to believe that the gospel is free to everyone.

You’ve got to get it in your heart that if whoever you’re witnessing to confesses Jesus and believes, that person really will be saved! No matter how evil that person was one second prior to there conversion they are the righteousness of God in Christ the second they convert! I don’t care if that person is the wickedest person on Earth. Let’s say he’s the most vile child molester you’ve ever heard of. If that person receives our Lord, that person will instantly become righteous in the eyes of God. His sins will be no more. Because God wants everyone and I mean everyone to go to Heaven regardless of who they are or what they have done.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

You’ve got to believe that no one deserves salvation.

For some it’s hard to believe that God will save even a child molester but for others it’s hard to believe that God really needs to save a good Samaritan. But you’ve got to believe that everyone has sinned and is in need of a savior regardless or how “nice” or “good” someone who rejects Christ seems to be. That person is in fact the son of the Devil himself because if all he ever does wrong in life is reject Jesus. That act alone is worse than the most vicious murder and more disgusting than the vilest rape. Not only will the rejecter go to Hell but this person deserves and has earned his place in Hell.

You’ve got to believe that God is Just.

If you buy into the doctrine that God only wants some to go to heaven you won’t fill as urgent a need to preach the gospel “knowing” that everyone God wants to, is going to get saved with or without you. But you’ve also got to believe that God is just. That He must punish sin. If you think that God is so “loving” that He won’t send anyone to Hell, again you won’t feel as urgent a need to save people from His wrath!

In my experience of street witnessing I’ve run into two different kinds of people that have just enough theology to destroy themselves. The first group are the ones that know the doctrine of Romans 3:10 that we are all sinners. So then their logical rational says “since we’re all sinners, somebody’s got to go to heaven.” So they say to themselves. “I’m not as bad as Hitler, or Manson, I haven’t ever killed nobody, I haven’t ever raped nobody.” So on and so forth. I actually know dope dealers that think they should go to heaven because they’re not as bad as some of the people that they know. Then there is the second group of people that know the doctrine of 1st John 4:8 that God is Love. So they say “If He’s truly a loving God he wouldn’t send me to Hell.” I heard many Christians say to that last group that God doesn’t send them to Hell they send themselves to Hell. Who in there right mind would do that? Come on now, no one chooses Hell, God sends them to Hell because He is a just God.

Exodus 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

God will by no means clear the guilty! He cannot clear the guilty because He is too loving. That doesn’t seem to make sense does it? He loves us so much that He has to send the guilty to Hell. Why is that? Because if He doesn’t, Heaven will ultimately turn into Hell. This is one of the first things He taught us in His Word. That if the guilty are cleared they will dominate and overtake until whatever world they’re in turns into Hell. I’m talking about Cain and Able. After Cain killed Able, God commanded that there would be no justice for that crime.

Genesis 4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

That was essentially the first law after the fall. That there would be no justice, and the people caught on quick. Cause in the same chapter (Genesis 4) a man by the name of Lamech committed murder himself and expected to receive no justice for it as well.

Genesis 4:23-24, 23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. 24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.

As a result the whole world became evil, it was Hell on Earth.

Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

The same thing would happen in Heaven. If God just let everyone in regardless of their wickedness Heaven would turn into Hell. Because sin festers, it rots. No matter how good you think you are, if you have any sin whatsoever in your heart it will grow. You already know this. Think of the sins in your life that you have tried to ignore. Did they go away, or did they gain in power? Imagine those sins over the course of several million years. What kind of a person will you have become? Worse than any demon imaginable.

So then I just explained God’s number one problem. And it’s a big one! God wants everyone to go to Heaven, But He can’t let anyone into Heaven because everyone has sin in their heart and will destroy Heaven overtime.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

God has solved this problem in Jesus Christ. That’s another thing you’ve got to understand and believe.

You’ve got to believe that Jesus is 100% God and 100% man.

You’ve got to believe that Jesus is God. The one true God and the only way to heaven. That He did live a perfect life that He did die in our place and that He did defeat death and sin by default. You’ve got to believe that Jesus is 100% God and 100% man.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.

He wasn’t half man and half God like Hercules. Hercules is a myth Jesus is real and He’s fully God and fully man.

Only God could live a perfect life, but only a man could reverse the curse of man. It was by the sin of one man (Adam) that sin has entered into all of us. So one man (Jesus) had to live a perfect life to fix it. He had to do this as a man because only a man can pay for the sins of man. Let’s say that you and I meet and become good friends. That you become such a valuable friend to me that I don’t ever want anything bad to happen to you. So one day I stand before God and ask Him to let me take your place in Hell. He would say that’s all good Jack but who is going to take your place? I only have enough eternity to pay for my own sins. But If I lived a perfect life I could not only pay for your sins I could pay for every ones. But I can’t because in order to do that I would have had to live a perfect life from birth until death.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

That means that even if you totally repented of all of your sins for the rest of your life and never did anything wrong or forgot to do anything right again you would still deserve Hell for everything that you did before you repented. No one can be perfect as the Father which is in Heaven is perfect. Except the Father in Heaven, if He would to come forth from Himself as His only begotten Son and become flesh, he could live the perfect life required from birth till death. That person and that person alone could stand before God and ask to take the place of you in Hell. That person would have to die in your place. But death is the wages of sin, since Jesus did not sin He could and did die for you but death could not hold Him.

You’ve got to believe that Jesus rose again.

Jesus because He lived a righteous life He could die for you but because He was God He didn’t have to stay dead. He could come and die in your place a man without any sin whatsoever and he could wash away all of your sins and then he could defeat death hell and the grave and that leads me to that last thing I preach when I preach the Gospel and that is faith. Faith is the key that opens the door to heaven if you wanna preach this gospel effectively you’ve got to believe this.

You’ve got to believe that you can only get to heaven by faith.

Romans 10:8-10, 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Now how does that work? That verse reveals a formula a lot of people don’t see that but it does. It says with your mouth you can be saved and with your heart you can be righteous. The reason it says that is because remember what I wrote earlier? That basically if God just let you into Heaven in your sin, you would end up turning Heaven into Hell. But then I told you that Jesus Christ died in your place. So you didn’t really have to pay for it so there is kind of a contradiction there.

You’re still going to Heaven in your sins. If all He did was die for you. But that’s why the Bible says to believe unto righteousness. What does it say to believe unto righteousness? It says to believe this “that God has raised Him from the dead.” That Jesus Christ defeated death Hell and the grave and on top of that he defeated your sins! If you can believe that. I mean Jesus Christ is God so that means He raised Himself from the dead. If you can believe that, then you can believe unto righteousness! You can believe that God saved you, you can believe that God changed you. If Jesus Christ can raise Himself from the dead, then Jesus Christ can raise you up out of whatever sin has a hold on you.

I believe that this is the weakest part of the Christian faith. We can believe that Jesus died and paid for our sins, but it’s hard for us to believe that He really released us from our sin. You hear Christians saying all the time that we’re just sinners saved by grace. If anyone thinks that Christians are just sinners saved by grace they don’t understand the Gospel because I just proved to you that God can’t send any sinners to Heaven. There are no sinners saved by grace. Each and every sinner must burn in Hell forever. Because Cain must be punished or Lamech will murder too. You’ve got to believe this. That you are not a sinner. You are a righteous saint of God! By grace! You have not been saved in your sin because Jesus did not just go to cross for you, you were saved from your sin because Jesus kicked the devil in the face for you! Halleluiah! He didn’t just die for you He rose again for you!

Some people say that’s easy to say but I see that I’m still sinning. That’s why the Bible says we walk by faith and not by sight. The Bible says that you’re a saint. The Bible says that you can believe unto righteousness. This hub is getting a little long so for more on how to overcome your sin by faith read this hub.

You’ve got to believe in your own testimony.

That’s what is ultimately going to help you lead other people to Christ. More than any of the things I wrote in all of this article. You need to understand all of that and believe all of that to preach the Gospel effectively. But it’s your own testimony that will convince people that God can save them. If He can save you, He can save them. So believe that you really have been saved not just from Hell but from yourself. That He saved you from your own sins. Testify about what God has done for you how He has changed you and when they see it in your life those that want to be saved (not all do) will be saved.

God bless you, I hope this hub has been both educational and encouraging to you. But most of all I hope that from now you will find a way to preach Christ and Him crucified to everyone you know and will know.

Yes Vladimir now that you mention it, I do see that it had to be God the Father that raised Jesus from the dead. Spiritual death does mean separation. I suppose that’s part of the reason why Jesus quoted Psalms 22 on the cross. “My God, My God why has thou forsaken me.” Because for the first time ever, He was separated from His Father. Oh the glory when you think of all He put Himself through for us. That and that alone (separation) had to be the worst, but He did it anyway! Praise God!

But, Jesus was and is always fully God Himself. So my point remains that in a sense Jesus raised Himself from the dead.

As far as Cain you raise an interesting point. I’ll have to meditate on that one and get back with you.

Thank you so much for you comment. God bless you.

      Great hub and teaching.

If I may I would like to stress that it was God who raised Jesus from the dead. Taking sin on oneself means spiritual death. Spiritual death means separation.

Perhaps Cain was marked because if one would kill him he will take Cain's sin on himself. I do not know if Cain repented, we do not read about it, but God is righteous and give chance equally to everyone. What do you think?

      Bless you.
