Pride Goes Before the Fall
stay humble
Most of us have heard the saying, “Pride comes before the fall”. However, many people don't fully understand the full meaning of this saying.
How many people do you know that have issues with pride? Maybe you think not many. But there are a lot of people who deal with pride, maybe its you.
When a person buys the newest electronic device, even though they do not need it, this is because of pride. They want the newest thing before anyone else.
Or how many people talk about their income; the holiday they went on and how much it cost; their newer and bigger house or car?
Pride can also be due to a chosen lifearyle.
Another type of pride is when someone has a position in their church, sometimes it puffs up their ego, and makes them proud. They feel as though they are better than others in their church. Maybe a person pushes to be in a position in church because of pride, they want the spotlight, the attention.
All these things are pride issues. If we put worldly things ahead of Jesus, those things will be our downfall. Either here on earth...or after.
If we put anything ahead of God, even if we put out own wants and desires ahead of Gods will, that is pride.
Things do not matter, what matters is our relationship with God. If He is not number one in our life, then what is?
People want nice things, there isn't anything wrong with it if God is still number one in your life and if it is Bibiblically correct, in Godly order. Jesus can give you nice things, but He can also take them away if it hinders your walk with Him.
Don't allow pride to take Jesus' place in your life. Pride will be your destruction.
Also, what can we take with us into heaven? When you take your last breath, it will be just you and Jesus, so make it a beautiful and wonderful face to face meeting.
In the words of Johnny Cash “God's gonna cut you down”. And in Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Let's all keep one another lifted up in prayer so that we all can see each other with Jesus in Heaven.
Stay humble, stay strong and God bless you all.
