To Prophesy

The gift of prophecy is an honor to be given, but with such a gift comes great responsibility. It is not something to take lightly. 1 Corinthians 14:3 explains what this amazing gift is.

1 Corinthians 14:3

King James Version (KJV)

3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. When a person is given this gift, he/she is never to use it on his or her own, never without the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 1:20-21

King James Version (KJV)

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy
men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost
.In the following scriptures we notice that all gifts are given to us by God. Again we are clearly told that the appropriate gift is given to a specific person at the correct time, as God choses.

Joel 2:28
King James Version (KJV)
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

Romans 12:6
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith

1 Corinthians 12:10
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues

As it states in Revelation 1:3, we who read and hear the God given prophecies, and heed what it says and keep them are blessed.

Revelation 1:3
King James Version (KJV)
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

There are many false prophets in the world, many who call themselves prophets, but are not. This is very serious and completely dangerous to those who listen to them and to the false prophet themselves. These people bring false prophecy, sometimes what they say does come true, however, most other times they do not, and then they make excuses as to why their prophecy did not come to fruition.
The word of God clearly tells us:

Matthew 7:20-23
King James Version (KJV)
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
We must always keep watch, be aware that there are wolves in sheep’s clothing. The enemy is on the prowl, looking to draw innocent people away and lure them to destruction.
There are many false prophets, but one who knows and obeys the word of God can and will discern who they are.
These people are everywhere; on T.V., in churches, on the street–everywhere!

Matthew 7:15
King James Version (KJV)
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Those who follow the will and word of God have nothing to fear, but those who do what they want, those who go against God and His word, those who do evil and sin, but say it is OK; they will suffer.

Proverbs 3:21-35
King James Version (KJV)
21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
29 Devise not evil against thy
neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
32 For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.
33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

Follow Jesus and do His will. Accept His gifts and keep away from sin.
He is with you always and will guide you and direct you. Whether times are easy or hard, the Lord will get you through. His will be done.

God Bless you ALL :)
