Online Bible Verses - Psalm 139: 23-24 - Talk to Me
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24NIV
Our neighbor had noticed while I was in the yard working the other day, I am in the habit of talking to myself. My wife brought it up this AM, my daughter has commented on several occasions as well. Not sure when that started, but it is a known and accepted fact within my family; apparently within the neighborhood as well. Peak time for talking to oneself occurs when I run in the morning. I think it may be therapeutic, some type of coping mechanism. Maybe when you are the only guy left who seems to agree with you, a new friend is identified: you.
Take the concept a step further. Realizing I really can’t do enough to help myself, despite consistent agreement with me, tapping God is a good option. When I am not consulting with myself, I go to Him. Did it today when I was in my room getting dressed. Just dropped to my knees and talked to Him. As is usually the case, a request for His continued work in and on me was included. He can search me, knows what is inside. The willing servant part and all the ugly stuff as well. He knows that I am anxious, like the psalmist in today’s verse.
I’m not going to worry about it too much. Rather, give my concerns, increasingly, to Him on a daily basis. Make an effort to speak with Him more; and me less.
