Online Bible Verses - Psalm 59: Sing Praise

Updated on May 10, 2012

“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” Psalm 59:16NIV

The psalmist (David?) speaks of singing to the Lord in the A.M. I grew up in a family that absolutely loved music. We integrated it into everything we did. One sibling made a career out of it, I’m just a big listener and air guitar player. I sing a lot as well, sometimes to the dismay of my children.

Today as we got ready for school, I was blasting tunes on You Tube: “Love is the Answer” by England Dan and John Fort Coley, “The Things We Do for Love” by 10cc, “Mama’s Pearl by the J5. My little girl, actually becoming not so little, recommended I not try out for American Idol.

Today’s verse reminds me that it was God Himself who invented music, for the purpose of His praise. We listen to a good deal of contemporary Christian, on KLOVE. Some really good stuff coming out these days, adding to the mix of what I listen to. Sometimes sending me a powerful message. “Revelation Song” by Phillips, Craig and Dean.

I suspect I will always love the secular stuff I grew up on, so many unbelievably talented artists. But now I will also sing songs which call out God’s name and praise Him, keeping me aware of what music is really about.

I find there are some really great bands that play Christian Rock. These bands can have a real appeal to the younger generation. I think kids need to be more exposed to them and realize they are out there. Thanks for informing me of the station KLove.
