Repentance
What does it mean to Repent?
Repent- to feel regret for something which has occurred; to change one's sinful way.
Repenting is more than showing mere emotion. It is more than feeling sorry for what one has done. It is more than the promise that you will never, "do it again". Repentance involves the changing of one's ways. It involves a complete turn away from sin. There is no other way to prove to God that you will never, "do it again", except you change your behavior. This is the concept of true repentance. One must forsaken sin and become," Godly Sorry".
Repentance is not something that should be taken lightly. It requires the purging of sin from one's mind, body, and soul. Real true repentance offers one a brand new start, a brand new relationship with Christ. So, how does one repent: First, there must be an acknowledgement of sin. If you are an alcoholic, acknowledge it. If you are a glutton, acknowledge it. Nothing can be healed unless you acknowledge it.
Second, the emotions are involved in repentance, just as they are in genuine experiences. A Godly sorrow must take place. This a step in the right direction toward true repentance. Third, repentance involves the will. We must be determined to change. We must let go of sin. We must turn from our "wicked ways" It is in our will to change that determines whether or not repentance is true.
May God greatly enrich your lives with these words.
