Resurrections, the First, and the Second

Updated on February 23, 2016

Resurrection of the Righteous and Unrighteous

There are some specifics that are just not given in the holy Writings. But reasonable inferences may be made.

The last Book of the Bible, John is having visions, in one of his visions, one of the 24 elders communicated with John.

In the communication between Jesus and Martha at her brothers tombsite, she asserts that she believes that Lazarus will be resurrected at the "last day".

Scriptures show that the resurrection has been delegated to Jesus the Christ [John 5:22- 30], and that as a glorified spirit Being, the Christ will descend and those dying in union with Him will rise.

Paul, mentioned that some will change as a twinkling of the eye and will not be asleep in death.

Bible prophecies show that Jesus the Christ has assumed His Messianic Kingship, with the end of the Gentile Times in 1914.

In the Book of Revelation, members of the anointed were already resurrected before all of this class were sealed.

Revelation 6:10 (King James Version)
10And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

Re 6 NW

11 And a white robe was given to each of them; and they were told to rest a little while longer, until the number was filled also of their fellow slaves and their brothers who were about to be killed as they also had been.

Revelation 7:2-3 (King James Version)
2And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

1. So then, the first resurrection, evidently has begun, and continues with those dying during these times immediately being born again as spirit beings. The first resurrection applies to those who will be lower priests to Jesus, and lower rulers. Revelation 20:6, a total of 144,000.

2. The second resurrection is sometime after Armageddon, to the end of 1000 year reign of Jesus and the 144000. These will have the prospect of eternal life on earth.
Those who are resurrected are the righteous [those declared righteous by faith including Abraham, Daniel and John the Baptist], and the unrighteous [those who did not get the opportunity to exercise their faith].

There will be a final test, and so, not all who participate in the second resurrection will live forever.
