Shrishel Mallikarjun Jyotirling is the story of Lord Shivji's family to improve the relations and reletives
Every Jyotirling tells the story of his devotee who was in trouble and called Lord Shivji and he had appeared there as a protector to defend his devotee. On the request of his devotee he seated there as a jyotirling to solve the problems of humankind.
But the story of Mallikarjun Jyotirling is different from others This is the story of Lord Shivji's own family. This story shows that everyone who comes on the earth, it may be incarnation or Deity, he has to act as a human being. He has to face the problems and to find the solution to get rid off them.
Once there was an argument between Kartikai and Ganeshji the sons of Lord Shivji, for their marriage. Kartikai said, "I should be married first as I am the elder one".Ganeshji also wanted to be married first. They went to their parents and asked for solving the dispute.
Lord Shivji and Goddess Paarvati said," You both revolve around the Earth and who will come first, will be married first".
Kartikai had a ride of Peacock. So he agreed at once and went on a long tour. But Ganeshji had a ride of mouse and also had heavyweight. He could not go on a long tour. But he was very intelligent. He thought for a while and bowed to his parents feet and revolve around them. He revolved seven times. Ganeshji realized them that the whole world is around the feet of our parents. Lord Shivji and Goddess Paarvati impressed at his wisdom. On both ways he cleared his way. They agreed for arranging his marriage first.
He got married with Ridhi and Sidhi the daughters of Prajapati Vishavroop. When Kartikai returned from his long tour of world, Ganeshji had also two sons Shubh and Labh.
Kartikai irritated at this situation. He felt that his parents had cheated him. He bowed his head on the feet of his parents and went back.
Kartikai went on Kronch Mountain. Lord Shivji and Goddess paarvati sent Nardji for agreement but he didn't agree. Then Lord Shivji and Goddess Paarvati went after him to wheedle him. But he went away thirty six Kilometers away from that place. They could not wheedle their son.
They seated themselves as Jyotirling here. This Jyotirling is called Mallikarjun Jyotirling. Here Sati's (the name of Paarvati in previous birth) upper lip fell. So it is known as Shaktipeeth.
Lord Kartikai resided thirty six kilometres away from that place. Goddess Paarvati goes there every Poornima (the full moon ) night to see her son. Lord Shivji goes there every Amavasya (the Black moon) night to see his son Kartikai.
In some stories it is said that Lord Kartikai resided in Kbilai Aadivasi people with the identity of Murugan Swami. He was the God for Aadivasi people. He was also got married Valli the daughter of Kabilai Sardar. He resided there to improve their standard of living. He had two wives. The other is Basant Saina the daughter of Devraj Inder.
In some stories it is said that Lord Kartikai was unmarried.

Shrishell Mallikarjun Jyotirling is also a Shaktipeeth. Upper lip of Sati(the name of previous birth of Goddess Paarvati) was fallen.
Here's a Krishna River at the foot of mountain Shrishel. Here Krishna river is called Patal Ganga. One has to go down 852 stairs to reach the river. Mallikarjun Jyotirling is bathed with the water of this river every day. The pilgrims of this Jyotirling take bath in this river with the belief of all the sins are washed away with this pious water.
This story gives us message that children are equal for their parents. They do their best to equalize them. Under some circumstances they are compelled to take decision to defend the other. Now a days this situation is very critical and disputes are arisen and the children don't know the value of their parents.
That person or Deity can slove this type of problems who had faced such type of problems.
We pray for happy and prosperous families to Lord Shivji and Goddess Paarvati, so that happy and prosperous families and society may be created and every person may enjoy its family and social life.
As Mallikarjun Jyotirling and Brahamrambha Shaktipeeth blessed us with the boon of happy and prosperous family and society.
