His Holiness the Dalai Lama with Silvia
This Morning in a Dream
Dear Silvia,
I would love to share with you an image from an early morning dream, a vignette that awakened me happy. We were in that place that we so long for, as we go about walking down the street, doing our work, in the striving of normal life.
We were present in a corner of a room filled with monks and visitors, the air completely clear.
I saw you in the aura of His Holiness, the two of you nearly one, face to face, his, showing the joy of recognition, yours the countenance of bliss. Your bow reached the floor, your prostrations filled all time of times. You stood, he placed his hands on your cheeks, your forehead to his, you floated to his side, and the air became space.
I stood there watching and placed my hands and knees on the floor where you had been. I arose and looked for his Holiness's gaze. He smiled at me almost teasing, waiting for what I would say. My wordless response, "Your Holiness, I am here in silence, pure silence..." He nodded in laughing approval, his ocean of wisdom began my day.
Tashi Delek,
