So, What Is In It For Me?

Updated on November 26, 2011

Colossians 1:13 ~ 23

God Has Chosen To Rescue People From The Hostility Of This Planet

Colossians 1:13 & 14 ~ "For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, v. 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."

  • Paul wanted them to know that God set them free from the dominion of darkness.
  • Paul wanted them to know that God had placed them in the kingdom of Jesus.

Something to think about:

While Christians don't reject legitimate science and reason, we do see faith as the ultimate solution for the hostility of this planet.

God Is Currently Inviting People Into The Safety Of His Church

  • Jesus is God come in the flesh.

Colossians 1:15 ~ "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation."

  • Jesus is Lord and maker of the universe.

Colossians 1:16 ~ "For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him."

  • Jesus sustains the universe.

Colossians 1:17 ~ "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."

  • Jesus is the head of the church.

Colossians 1:18 ~ "And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy."

God Is Offering People A Relationship With Him Defined By Peace And Fellowship

  • Paul told them that they were reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:21 & 22 ~ "Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. v.22 But now He has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation--"

  • Paul told them that they needed to continue in their faith.

Colossians 1:23 ~ "If you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which, I , Paul, have become a servant."

Something to think about:

The message of the gospel is the same for everyone, everywhere, no matter who they are. Jesus Christ offers peace and fellowship to all that accept Him by faith.

An Application For Your Life:

If you are wavering in your faith by putting your trust in other beliefs beside Jesus Christ, please return to your Him today.

If you would like to receive Jesus into your life, all you have to do is pray and ask Him to come into your heart. You don't need to know any 'fancy' words or 'fancy' prayers. Just talk to Him from your heart. He will forgive your sins and give you a peace that the world can not offer. He is the best friend I've ever had, and I know He would love to be yours too. He is only a prayer away. I know He would love to hear from you.

This is really uiipftlng *sigh* I dont like that I have this problem and I try to keep things in perspective because I know the world doesn't revovle around myself but at times I just get the feeling that everyone is looking at me and judging me for my every mistake, it makes it hard to even interact with people without being even in the least anxious. This is uiipftlng though and I will def turn my problems to the Lord because at this point he is the only one that can help me. Thanks for the post and your helping people like us by just talking about your situations and giving us all courage.

We should not cosnufe regeneration which occurs when we first believe in Christ as our Lord (Tit. 3: 5). and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When we believe in Christ, at that time forward, the holy Spirit dwells in our hearts (Eph. 1: 13-14). But we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Eph. 5: 18), here it is God's command. And when the Samaritans believed in Christ, the Apostles at Jerusalem sent forth Peter and John to lay hands on them so that they might be baptized (receive the Spirit) with the Holy Ghost (Acts 8: 12-15). So at conversion, we are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit dwells in us, but we need to be baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. God bless you

I love how you talked about something very deep in meaning and yet it was so clearly executed! Many people in the world revere the Bible but do not personalize those scriptures for themselves; this hub helps those without connection do that. It is so needed that people see, the Bible is God's love letter to His people and not a club he uses to hit them over the head with. Vote up! Magnificent!

Hi Seeker7 thank you for your wonderful comments. They are very much appreciated and I agree wholeheartedly with you. Can you imagine what would happen if the governments of this world decided to put spiritual values as a top priority? Yes...we can always hope!

Have a great day and God bless! :-)

A very timely hub considering the troubles that this poor old planet is facing today. If spiritual values were at the top of the list rather than money and the 'me, me, me syndrome' - the world's troubles would decrease dramatically. We can always hope!

      Lovely hub + voted up!
