~ Psalm 7 ~ Spiritual Journey From the Beginning to the End of the Psalm ~
There is True Security & Significance in the Lord!
~ Psalm 7 ~ Spiritual Journey From The Beginning To The End Of The Psalm ~
The Psalms are a majestic and marvelous treasure of thanksgiving, accolades, songs and prayers. They are an aggressively uncompromising compendium of forcibly spoken expressions, No doubt here one can sense the exuding of intense deeply profound emotions. These Psalms wonderfully inspire and provoke much thought and personal introspection. They mesmerize and captivate the senses and emotions.
There is a deep spiritual fountain of wisdom that pours generously from its contents! There is encouragement while in the midst of trials, tests and temptations. There is conviction for the soul for wandering from the narrow path. There is direction on and to the straight and narrow road as well. There is relief and optimistic expectation to inspire one to continue on despite whatever the situation maybe…
The Psalms contain and endless spiritual reservoir of ecstatic passion that evokes the abiding presence of the Spirit of the Lord!
David once again in this Psalm cries out to the Lord! No doubt He teaches us another lesson of the importance of being transparent with the Lord! There is no thought, word, act nor deed that is hidden from the Lord! Therefore whenever seeking inner healing, cleansing and restoration invite Him into every orifice, joint, vein, cavity, crease, fold and tissue of your being! In order for your mind, heart, body and soul to find Peace one must simply and sincerely surrender! Allow His Holy Spirit to do spiritual surgery to renew your inner man or woman!
The Word of God is endless in its ability to help us through whatever or any situation that is presented to us in life! There is nowhere you can go that God is not there; He is Omnipresent, meaning everywhere! Personally it is hard for me to fathom how one does not believe that the Lord God, Sovereign Creator of the universe at large exists! Yet many still choose to not believe? Or rather fail to admit that He does... There is an overwhelming unexplainable amount of evidence all around us to prove that this is so. However I realize that their spiritual eyes are blinded. They instead elect to see with their carnal senses and not accept the truth of God’s Word!
Those who believe are invited into the family of God! Through faith and believing in Jesus Christ our spiritual eyes are opened! As we grow spiritually we can more and more see more clearly and better comprehend the things of God! Hopefully we sin less and less… Life becomes a continual journey of spiritual growth, discovery, and wonderful revelations!
It was not possible that the blood sacrifices from bulls, lambs, doves, or pigeons of the Old Testament take away the penalty of sin. God therefore sacrificed His only Begotten Son to be the Sacrificial Lamb once and for ALL! Jesus Christ triumphed over death and cancelled the charges of the past, present or future that was against us… He has redeemed us from the curse of sin that separates us from the Lord! He has opened the doorway to the Father! He in fact is the Door! He is our Savior! Praise God for His Love, Grace and mercy that He has shown towards us! As we sincerely seek Him daily we can always find comfort and direction!
This particular song written by David was written during the time he was unjustly accused of trying to kill King Saul! Saul's men vigilantly pursue him so he hides from him… He had the ability to take Saul’s life… But, David did not strike back he instead cleaved to the Lord and found refuge in caves...! During times of great persecution, turmoil, misunderstandings slanderous accusations and despair it is important to seek the face of the Lord! It is not an easy time but know the Lord will direct you around and through it! We can always Trust HIM to work it out for our good in His time! Although difficult it is always best to allow the Lord to fight your battle rather than to strike back… While going through you truly can depend on the Lord, His Word and His precious Holy Spirit!

BOOK 1
Wickedness Justly Rewarded
Theme: A request for justice against those who make slanderous comments. God is the perfect Judge and will punish those who persecute the innocent.
The 2nd of seven “penitential “ Psalms
Author: King David
~ PSALM 7 ~
David knew where he needed to go whenever there was spiritual warfare about him! He knew that despite all the opposition against him he could Trust God! Here he is being falsely accused of trying to kill King Saul. A person who he dearly loved! A king who was the father of his bride that was taken from him and who was the father of his best, dearest and closest friend Jonathan whom he truly loved as a brother!
What anguish and ambivalence his heart must have felt! Betrayed and pursued by this powerful king who was his father- in – law that he loved! Slandered and lied upon and erroneously accused of trying to take the throne away from him…. Instead of taking matters in his own hands and striking back he earnestly, vehemently and vociferously cries out to the Lord! He cries out for Justice to our all knowing God!
Here we learn a great invaluable lesson of how to properly respond when under attack. When everything and everyone is coming against you even those who you least expect have abandoned you… When you are being pursued or slandered or falsely accused and your back is against the wall… It is the perfect time to “PRAY!”
“O LORD my GOD, I take refuge in YOU; save and deliver me from ALL who pursue me, or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.”
Here we can better understand precisely what a devoted man David was. He was chosen by God. “I have found David the son of Jesse a man after God’s own heart He will do everything I want him to do...” Acts 13. David chose to follow the Lord with all his heart! Yes! He faltered at times. But he did not relish or find comfort in his times of weakness… He made a sincere deliberate attempt to put the will of the Lord above all else. We learn that David “followed ME (the Lord) with all his heart.” I Kings 14. He was dependent upon the Lord. Confession and readily repenting whenever necessary is how we can keep our hearts pure. Here he teaches us the spiritual virtue of intimate transparency!
The blood of Jesus has cleansing Power!
While David is going through he turns his focus to the Lord. While in deep meditation and prayer he wholeheartedly confesses to the Lord. He even asks if he is in any way guilty in the matter to let his enemy overtake him. Now that is powerful! He takes responsibility for his choices. His heart is no doubt contrite! Here we see that David is acutely aware of the need to be disciplined for any wrong behavior. To the degree he asks the Lord to allow his oppressor to reprimand him. If necessary to even possibly take his life! Here again is potent evidence to the purity of his heart. You do not want anything to separate you from God. David is secure enough in his relationship with the Lord that if warranted or necessary he is willing to take the consequences for his behavior!
O LORD my GOD, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands, if I have done evil to him who is at PEACE with me or without cause have robbed my foe, then, let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust.”
After prayer, confession and pouring out his soul David then petitions the Lord to come to his defense. It is perceptibly detected that he is clearly not guilty. Thus he asks the Lord to respond in his behalf. To now take just action against his enemies on his behalf. Woe to them that rise up against a child of God whose heart is to the Lord! GOD IS FAITHFUL! He will intervene. It is during times of oppression and persecution we too can beseech the Lord to overtake our oppressors… To in fact ask Him to allow His wrath to come down upon them.
God is real! His WORD is alive and oh so powerful we can learn much here! The enemy is the “father of lies” and deceives many. "The Truth will set you free!"
KNOW the difference between preaching gossip and the GOSPEL!
When we allow ourselves to be properly positioned and sincerely, humbly submit to the Lord we can TRUST HIM to come through every time. We can ALWAYS and FOREVER stand upon the TRUTH! God is truly a just God! “Arise O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree JUSTICE!”
Here again we can learn that nothing is hidden to the Lord! You can either find PEACE in knowing this or either become terribly troubled? Like it or not we are an open book to the Lord! Praise God! There is no place to go and nowhere to hide. Confession is good for the soul! The Lord already knows anyway. God is not at all impressed by hiding behind foolish pride. So why not submit and readily admit whenever wrong? Sin only separates us from God! Confession is to admit wrong, repent and seek to be again spiritually united with our Heavenly Father! He will be a buffer against the wicked. They can do no more than He allows… As His children there is no better place but to be in HIS WILL! It is only in Him we can find true “Security and Significance!”
“O Righteous GOD, who searches minds and hearts, bring to end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.”
Have you ever heard the hymn What A Friend We Have in Jesus? It says a lot! He is truly a dear Friend like no other! It is well worth quoting: “What a Friend we have in Jesus. All our sins and grieves to bear! All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. O what Peace we often forfeit! O what needless pain we bear! ALL because we do not carry everything to God in prayer!”
David knew the importance of spiritual hymns and songs He often sang to the Lord. Giving Praise to the Lord in song is a wonderful way to show your thankfulness! Praise in song is an integral part of Worship!
If you want protection from whatever is happening to you or coming against you there is nothing or no one more powerful than the Lord! David is being pursued with a vengeance by the most powerful man of the land. But he did not fight back. He turned to the Lord. Nor is David a coward!
David was but a shepherd boy when he killed Goliath, a ferocious giant that no one else could defeat. He knew that Goliath no matter how big and fierce was but a mere mortal man. He remained unafraid and viewed him from God’s perspective. He did not allow their ridiculing him hinder his trust in God instead it drove him to trust the Lord even more! He voluntarily stepped forth to the challenge. He always knew that with the Lord by his side he would at some point prevail victoriously!
We too when faced against seemingly immeasurable odds must put our trust and hope in the Lord as well! Perspective makes all the difference in the world. We must at times boldly step out on Faith! “Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen!” Hebrews 11. When we take the time to spend time with the Lord we better position ourselves to hear Him. We must learn to “Be STILL and KNOW!” In HIS own time God will make right what is wrong. God is always speaking we just have to get better at listening! “Have FAITH in GOD! God will protect us when we are submitted to His will and His way!
“My shield is GOD MOST HIGH, who SAVES the upright in heart. GOD is a righteous Judge, a God who expresses His wrath every day.”
There is much wickedness about us in this world. Much spiritual warfare all around us! It can often come from unexpected places as well as from those you least expect… We are living in a time when many “call evil good and GOOD evil…” Isaiah 5. When darkness is put before LIGHT! There is darkness in places where the LIGHT of the LORD should shine most brightly! To this the LORD says woe! Destruction is soon to follow! Never underestimate the Lord and His timing! Nothing gets by the Lord! He patiently allows some things for but a season.
It is very important as a believer to not look to the world for direction. Don’t allow the many loopholes it allows for you to abandon what goes against the principles of God! This is the way of the enemy getting a stronghold in your life… The Word of God is our “Life Manual” consult it regularly to see if you are in the Faith!
Quite often many innocent people are hurting. Bad things do happen to good people! There are again those who are spiritually weak and will go whatever way the wind blows. No deep sense of loyalty often resting on a shaky foundation. There are also those who will sit on the fence and watch what happens even when they know that what is going on is not right! There are those who live to simply corrupt and disrupt the lives of the children of God. To sow discord among us… Spiritual discernment is so very important! What is Key? It is important to look to the Lord!
Here again in this Psalm King Saul is doing all he can to hold on to a position that he has lost. He has come against David with everything possible. David is having a wilderness experience retreating from the fury of Saul’s unjust accusations and mistreatment. He so wants to destroy David. But all this time the Lord is preparing David for what’s ahead! Yes! Saul is pregnant with evil…… He even has a tormenting spirit that has taken over his soul! So much so to the point he has lied and turned just about everyone against David. He has maligned his character and dug a pit for him. But as the Word says; “WOE!” Always keep in mind that God is a “JUST GOD!”
The Word of God is being fulfilled!
The world is constantly changing. There is much going on about us today as well. Wars and rumors of war, famines, pestilences, diseases, and tornadoes... Leaders fighting to remain in position after years of corrupt service, not very different than King Saul! Numerous natural earthquakes with much devastation upon the land… God is speaking: “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will be handed over and persecuted….” Matthew 24.
We must seek God’s face for direction during these interesting times. It is important to increasingly become aware. Do not allow what is happening to pull you away from focusing on the Lord. Do not allow anyone to mislead you onto the wide road of destruction! Again, the Lord allows things to be only for a season… David teaches us that we must turn to the Lord when we are being oppressed! Instead the traps they set for us will in time only backfire. One must stay prayerful! God will in His time execute His righteous judgment! In the meantime stay right or get right with God! Our victory is in the Lord!
Know what you say you believe! God’s principles for living have not changed! Know God for yourself! It is not always visible or readily apparent what is happening in the background. But God is aware of everything! He is all knowing! He is Omniscient! The spiritual warfare continues to distort the Truth! One must be prayerful, patient and discerning to know the difference between GOOD and evil! It cloaks itself in so many ways… Don’t be deceived! The signs are all about us! It is important to spend time daily in the Word and in prayer!
This is an excellent Psalm of hope whenever you are up against much opposition. God will take care of you! We must seek Him above all else. Just know that God is always aware of everything that is happening to and around us. Whatever traps that may be deceptively placed in your path Trust the Lord to guide you around or through them. Whatever is not of Him will eventually come to nought… As David did we too must cry out to the Lord! You can count on God’s Word! “He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment. He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit that he has made.” We can be THANKFUL that the presence of the Lord is available to us 24/7! Praise God!
"To GOD Be The GLORY!"
This Psalms concludes saying: “I will give THANKS to the LORD because of HIS righteousness and will sing PRAISE to the NAME of the LORD MOST HIGH.”
