The Book of Revelation Explained – Chapter 1
The Book of Revelation Explained – Chapter 1
Please Read this Before we Begin. Scripture requires each individual to “Do not be Deceived”. So I caution you the remember to not believe what I or any Other man try to teach you until and unless it is confirmed to you PERSONALLY by scripture and the Holy Spirit of God as TRUTH.
The writer will answer for what he writes but only YOU will answer for what YOU believe.
The book of revelation is as the first word attests. A revealing of Jesus Christ, who He is, His mission, His place in this age and in the eternal kingdom of God. Scriptures are clear, these things were to begin during the lives of those present. Most of Revelation has already occurred, contrary to what apostate men teach.
Rev 1:1) A Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him to show to His slaves things which must occur quickly. And He signified by sending through His angel to His slave, John, many things as he saw.
Rev 1:2 who testified of the Word of God and the witness of Jesus Christ, even as many things as he saw.
Rev 1:3) Blessed is the one reading, and those hearing the Words of this prophecy, and keeping the things having been written; for the time is near.
John greets the seven assemblies to whom this applies with a greeting from God. Also a greeting from Jesus Christ, as He is acting as God during this age because God has delegated all of His authority to Jesus for this final age of man.
(Rev 1:4) John to the seven assemblies in Asia: Grace to you, and peace, from the One who is, and who was, and who is coming, and from the seven spirits which are before His throne;
(Rev 1:5) even from Jesus Christ the Faithful Witness, the First-born out of the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him loving us and washing us from our sins by His blood.
(Rev 1:6) and made us kings and priests to God, even His Father. To Him is the glory and the might forever and ever. Amen.
Here we see God confirming this message is from Him. In it He tells the tale of those that reject Christ during this age (they will wail/cry over their failure but too late). Then he affirms that He is God , was God, for a season was God but had delegated His place to others (first the priests and kings in the previous age and then in this age to Christ), and that once again at the end of this age will be God and directly available to His sons.
1Co 15:20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead; He became the firstfruit of those having fallen asleep. 21 For since death is through man, also through a Man is a resurrection of the dead; 22 for as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruit;afterward those of Christ at His coming. 24 Then is the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God, even the Father, when He makes to cease all rule and all authority and power. 25 For it is right for Him to reign until He puts all the hostile ones under His feet; 26 the last hostile thing made to cease is death. 27 For "He subjected all things under His feet;" but when He says that all things have been subjected, it is plain that it excepts Him who has subjected all things to Him. 28 But when all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who has subjected all things to Him, that God may be all things in all.
(Rev 1:7) "Behold, He comes with the clouds," and "every eye will see Him, and the ones who pierced" Him, and all the tribes of the earth "will wail on account of Him." Yes, Amen. Dan. 7:13; Zech. 12:10
(Rev 1:8) I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, says the Lord, the One who is, and who was, and who is coming, the Almighty.
John then explains who he is and how he came to be the messenger of this revelation.
Rev 1:9 I, even your brother John, and co-sharer in the affliction, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, came to be in the island being called Patmos because of the Word of God, and because of the witness of Jesus Christ.
Rev 1:10 I came to be in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
Sadly the following verse has much added to it in most bibles. The words “ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last; also,” do not appear in scripture but are added by translators to make you believe in their false trinity doctrine.. They change the speaker from Chist, and make it sound as if He is God, which He is not, just acting in His stead for this age as the priests and kings did in the previous age. Also the following words are not in scripture but added by the translators “ and send to the seven assemblies of Asia:”. Unfortunately there are many words added throughout bible translations, especially in the revelation, for various reasons many of which only the translators know. That is why we must be filled with and following the Holy Spirit of God. Also why it is wise to check an interlinear bible (word for word translation, no added or subtracted words). And also check the greek words in important passages. I say this because the Holy Spirit may show you a different explanation that your bible and you will be able to confirm you heard it right this way as the opyions for the word are there. Do not use the kjv version translation words in Strongs though, let the Holy Spirit show you the correct choice from the original language. Remember scripture says If you are not filled with and following His Holy Spirit you will not understand so it will not matter how you study.
Rev 1:11 saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last; also, What you see, write in a scroll, and send to the seven assemblies of Asia: to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.
Now we take these truths and look at the next verses as they appear in SCRIPTURE, not as they appear in most translations.
He, Jesus speaking here, in verse 16 He has a sword in His mouth, remember Jesus said I bring a sword?
Rev 1:12 And I turned to see the voice which spoke with me.
Rev 1:13 And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, having been clothed to the feet, and having been girded with a golden girdle at the breasts.
Rev 1:1 And the hairs of His head were white as white wool, as snow, and His
Rev 1:15 and His feet like burnished brass having been fired in a furnace; and His voice as a sound of many waters;
Rev 1:16 and having in His right hand seven stars; and a sharp, two-edged sword proceeding out of His mouth, and His face shining as the sun in its power.
Then John fainted and Jesus speaks in verses 17 and 18. He says He is the first and last “0f the dead to be resurrected”, he was the first to be raised from the dead and he will be the last as when His age ends at the judgment there will never be another resurrection. He goes on and explains He is alive but He WAS dead but look He is Alive, and He has the keys to life and death (only Jesus has these keys, that is why God delegated His authority to Him for this age.) He then explains to John more about the vision.
Rev 1:17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet, as dead. And He put His right hand on me, saying to me, Do not fear. I am the First and the Last,
Rev 1:18 and the Living One; and I became dead; and, behold, I am living forever and ever. Amen. And I have the keys to hell, and of death.
Rev 1:19 Write what things you saw, and what things are, and what things are about to occur after these things.
Rev 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw on My right, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are angels of the seven assemblies, and the seven lampstands you saw are seven assemblies.
