The Carousel called life
The Carousel
You get your ticket to bored the ride,
your excitement and expectations are difficult to hide.
You climb up onto that beautiful horse,
wondering what will be your course.
The bells are chiming and lights are flashing,
smiling faces are all a blur in passing.
Your heart begins to race and sing,
you stretch your arm out to catch the brass ring.
Almost had it in your hand
next time around you’ll try to lean and stand.
Yet the ride slows down and you wonder why?
Oh please god just give me one more try!
You hear a bell ring signaling the end is near,
but your not ready to leave, your hearts filled with fear.
Why must you get only one twirl around?
It isn’t enough time you fretfully frown.
I want more time to make things right,
Oh why did I waste time with foolish fights?
I want to travel to far away lands,
to the beach once more to feel the warm sand.
I want to sing and dance till the mornings light,
laugh and cry to my hearts delight!
I want to feel my daughters hand in mine,
warn her about the importance of time!
I want to linger forever in my lovers embrace,
searing into my memory the lines of his face.
Had I known this ride went so fast,
I would have loved harder and let go of the past.
As I lower myself down from this beautiful place,
Eternity now will set my pace!
